Why must those stupid fucks taint every god damn dev post with two hundred of their 'first post' and 'first page' bullshit posts?

You will never find a more wretched hive of whiners and fanbois. The devs must be cautious.

I agree. Their boards are very limited. They don't have the awesome power this board has.

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

Actually the boards were pretty good when development first began. There were a lot of features added to the game that came out of board suggestions and discussions. However, like many things over time it just breaks down.

I worked on an MMORPG for 5 months. After Teh Vualt and some of my more colourful posts on CoEs boards, reigning it in on that MMORPGs forum was an utter nightmare :) Yet i had to cos I was all official and had "Developer" under my name in a vary speshal colour ><
Some days I was tempted to make an anon login and cut loose. But fortunately I decided life was too short :P

If I ever find myself in that situation again there will be NO FORUMS til the game is on the shelves. Between bandwagons, ridiculous wishlists, PvP vs the world 'discussions' and developer leghumping it was almost more than mortal man could bear. . .

Feedback is good, but when it get to the point where the community thinks it can dictate how game mechanics will work, it's pretty much pointless.

Prime example, look what happened to Horizons.
A very ambitious plan but the developers lacked focus.
They tried to incorporate every posters suggestions into their 'vision'.

At one point I think they stepped back, looked at where the project was heading and realised that it would be impossible to create the game and have it released in their lifetime.
That was when they 'closed up shop' and started rebuilding Horizons from the ground up.

It's pretty easy criticize Verant/SOE for a lot of decisions they have made in the past 4 years... but they did stick to their 'vision' of how they wanted EQ to be. They implemented some player suggestions but didn't cave in to the masses.

The main problems I see currently with Funcom and Mythic is they are caving in too much to their playerbase. Recently Funcom redid their forums and they aren't as much of a cesspool as they used to be. Often, the players who actively post on 'official forums' don't accurately reflect the desires of the playerbase. Giving in to the demands of forum junkies and making them think they can effectively dictate game changes is a very bad thing.

SOE would be wise to shut down their official (non beta) forums a few weeks before release. It's pretty bad now, but the geek frenzy is going to hit the boiling point very soon.

I can't read the swg forums. I can even tolerate the battle.net forums but the swg ones is just too much stupid for me to handle.

The Jedi-wannabes have been creeping around those boards a lot recently. They are the worst bunch of fucking whiners I've ever seen. They bitch and moan that the system (which noone has seen or tried) isn't fair or is biased against this type of player or other.

I've never understood the attraction of micro-analyzing an unfinished product without even Beta access. The DAoC boards were the same way.

I don't even attempt to read past the original post/update. The thread gets to be up to 7 pages within hours after the post. That's insane.

The will come out when it comes out. I will enjoy myself inspite of all the Jedi Wannabes. The only organization I will join will be if one is made from this board because I consider the people here to be veteren gamers.

I tried reading the SWG boards. Didn't last too long with all the whining that was there.

The ATITD beta boards were really good, up until about a week before release. Then a huge influx of noobs showed up, asking stupid questions and crying about the game and wanting this or that.
