LOL!!! FREE AO!!

Post by Animalor »

E-mail I just got.

I won't be taking advantage of it however it is pretty good marketing.
Dear Customer

Today, on the 3rd march 2003, your Anarchy Online account
has been re-activated for a free 30-day trial of our recently released
"booster pack", The Notum Wars. This has been done in order to give
former players of Anarchy Online a chance to check out the unique
features without having to level up a new character through the regular
free trial.

The Notum Wars added the exciting features of land control and
organisation battles (focused team PvP), features that spurred rave
reviews in the gaming press (Computer Gaming World characterised the
game as "Enhanced, Updated, and all-around fantastic" in their March
2003 issue).

For 30 days from today, you will have the opportunity to log in,
completely free of cost, and have a second look at the game.

A staggering amount of quality content has been added to Anarchy Online
since launch, and we're confident returning players will be amazed by
all the changes.

List of additions over the last year:

- Exciting features of land control and organisation battles (focused
team PvP)
- Revised pet pathing and collision detection system
- Over 450 monsters
- More than 400 weapons
- 8 static dungeons
- 6 nightclubs and bars
- More than 80 sets of armour
- Team Missions with multiple floors, and challenging bosses.
- The "Fixer Grid" - advanced transportation through The Grid only
for the Fixer profession
- Improved help system with pop-up tips
- Static missions from non-player characters (NPCs)
- 140 new monster camps, including several high-level ones that offer
raid-like game play
- Brand-new 3D character creation system
- Futuristic arrival hall for new characters with informative NPCs
- All new NPC multiple-choice chat system in new player areas

To start playing simply log into Anarchy Online with your old username and password. If you want to continue playing Anarchy Online
after this 30-day free re-evaluation, go to https://register.funcom.com and
log in with the same username and password. Click the "reactivate" button to
activate your account, and your account will automatically be set to a
30 day recurring subscription.

I think most MMOGs are offering similar promotions.

You should check out AO, it's a helluva lot better.
Not the time sink that EQ is and the PvP is quite fun.

I went back to it about 3-4 months ago and played quite a bit for 2-3 weeks I got my fixer from 30 something to 60something and dropped it again.

This game just really doesn't appeal to me all that much.

Hehe, that's like getting lvl 20 in EQ.

I got my fixer as high as 135.. he was the most fun (and effective) for PvP. Have a 160+ doctor and advent as well. Tower fights and Tara raids were always a lot of fun.
