Flash Problems

I made a flash menu to put into a 2 window frameset (not my site). The menu animations work fine but I am having 2 problems.

1: I am trying to bring up .asp pages in the main frame but on each attempt I get the option to download the page when all I want it to do is open the page. I am using geturl (page.asp "main"(rough guesstimation of the actual syntax)). I am able to bring up pages that are not .asp.

2: On those buttons where I have a button rollover and a target of a .asp page the cursor flickers between an arrow and a hand. Is there any way to fix that?

1. try putting page.asp in quotes, also make sure the server is actually capable of running asp scripts

2. you have to create your own buttons with actionscript to get around that, or you could use Mouse.hide and replace it with a clip

It kind of irks me that I can't get any support from Macromedia unless I pay for some kind of plan.

I am able to bring up pages that are not .asp. When I hit a button that will open an .asp page in the main frame I get a popup asking me if I want to download the page.

I have posts out at flashkit and techtv so if they can't help I'll just have to redo this in html. mutter bah frustration

If you're getting a box that asks you to download an .asp file, it's because you don't have a webserver running or your webserver isn't configured to parse asp files.

You need to install IIS or Apache (Apache may require an additional program to parse asp, not sure.) on your local machine, or be sure that your ISP supports asp files.

Actually, I am working on the company website which currently uses an html menu in a frameset. I am trying to eliminate the current menu in favor of something more graphic and animated. I'll check into that though. There may be something on that html that I need.

Okay, your company website isn't set up right for asp files then... IIS comes with asp support built in, but you have to set the directory permissions right and stuff. I don't know much about it other than that.

If you were using ColdFusion I might be of some use!

Thanks Xouqoa. You helped me identify that it is not just a flash problem. I tried this out using just html and that failed the same way. I installed IIS from the Windows Componants but for some reason it still won't work.

*Edit* solved minor problem

New Problem: Learning curve to figure out how to set this bitch up to allow asp pages. *yawn* Screw it for today though. I have to play me some Age of Kings before I leave work.
