Actually, we are going to war against another nation if Shrub gets his way, the U.N. MAKES it their thing. One thing you blind sycophants (sp?) never seem to realize is that the U.S. does not make world policy by ourselves, as much as arrogance would dictate otherwise.
As for "defending a member of Nato", don't give me that shit. What, Israel? LOL, then tell me why are we not going to Palestine and stop the DIRECT threat that been there since day one?
Please answer that with reason, or stfu.
Thank you.

Yay, know your facts before you post dumbass. Israel had nothing to do with it. Turkey did.Acies wrote:Actually, we are going to war against another nation if Shrub gets his way, the U.N. I was making a guess based upon the word ally, in reference to proximity to Iraq.Vetiria wrote:Yay, know your facts before you post dumbass. Israel had nothing to do with it. Do your own research. I never said Turkey was threatened by Iraq.
Let's go over the history of this thread, shall we:
Masteen says France voted against protecting a country in the case Iraq were to strike that country. (Which is true.)
You assumed he was talking about Israel, and threw in your un-learned opinion on the matter.
I said it was not Israel, it was Turkey.
Lesson: You should really learn to read up on issues if you're going to argue that you are against them.
And BTW, just for future reference, NATO != UN.

However, I am gonna tip my hat on this one. My tiredness has caused me to completely misconstrue some of Masteen's words...
Sorry Masteen. Feel Vindicated now.

I had no problem with France's stance on "defending" Turkey. A nation that allows an attack to be launched from it's territory is an aggressor, even if they are being paid for it
. A nice spin tho passing it off as a defensive meassure.

Thank you, and you still need to read up on issues before you take a stance on it. For example, the 2nd time on this thread you've talked out of your ass:Acies wrote:However, I am gonna tip my hat on this one. My tiredness has caused me to completely misconstrue some of Masteen's words...

Acies, because you're clearly a very "special" person, I'll spell it out for you:
Last week, Turkey (a member of NATO) requested that NATO (not the UN) help them beef up their defenses because of increasing tensions with their neighbor Iraq. The French, in their capacity as a member of NATO, vetoed Turkey's request.

turkey only did that because turkey always fucking whines about the kurds in northern iraq. turkey needs to nato protection from the kurds about as much as japan does. I'm glad they got their greedy whining fucking asses veto'd because they are a worthless welfare nation.
turkey's idea of defense is help in shooting any kurd that comes within range of their stupid border.

Making more sense now.masteen wrote:Acies, because you're clearly a very "special" person, I'll spell it out for you:

So basically, Bush can't get where we wants to go, but would be willing to live vicariously through Turkey? Or do you think that seriously, they want to beef up Turkey for completely defense related reasons, just in the instance that Iraq marched across three, maybe four countries and under the scrutiny of the WORLD to get there? Fuckin Saddam must have l33t Ninja troopers or somethin' to avoid notice of 100+ military satelites, recon, french spy planes, etc.
You seem equally as "special" if you cannot see why France said fuck off to this. However, I have not slept in over 30 hours.
What is your excuse?

One person cannot be this stupid, can they? Iraq borders Turkey. How many times does it have to be said: read up on the issues at hand before trying to put in your useless opinion on the matter.Acies wrote:Making more sense now.masteen wrote:Acies, because you're clearly a very "special" person, I'll spell it out for you:

The Kurds crossing the border into Turkey might not be the biggest threat, but the asshole forcing them to move is. The whole reason we put up the northern no-fly zone in Iraq back in '91 was to protect Turkey. Now that we know that Hussein has missiles that can reach them, is it so unreasonable for the Turks to request aid?

Hmm. I think I will quote you:
Spelled out for you:
Question one!
So basically, Bush can't get where we wants to go, but would be willing to live vicariously through Turkey?
Question two!
Or do you think that seriously, they want to beef up Turkey for completely defense related reasons, just in the instance that Iraq marched across ((three, maybe four countries)Edit this to just Iraq as per your last few posts) and under the scrutiny of the WORLD to get there?
Bearing in mind you missed these questions, I have a third.
Question three!
However, I have not slept in over 30 hours.
What is your excuse?
Look up six posts from this one, and try again with the, "what question?" routine.Vetiria wrote:One person cannot be this stupid, can they?

Considering those aren't valid questions because they are made up out of your own little mind without knowing the topic at hand, I had no reason to answer them.Acies wrote:Hmm. I think I will quote you:

Pouching off others flames? What shit did I start? Next time learn to know about the topic at hand before you try to throw in your opinion on the matter. All I did was correct your ignorance. I never put my opinion in on the matter. My opinion is irrelivent, as I said before.Acies wrote:OMG you are such a fucking tard'...

in a military confrontation, turkey would fucking obliterate iraq.
the no fly zone is to protect the kurds from baghdad after the failure of the US backed kurdish uprising after the gulf war.. more american meddling in foreign affairs.

Seems the US may have sold those same Kurds out to Turkey. Not confirmed AFAIK but part of the agreement with Turkey allows them to move troops into Northern Iraq. I predict when the Turks and Kurds meet they will join together frolicking around a camp fire and singing songs together. I could be wrong though.kyoukan type-R wrote:huhmasteen wrote:The Kurds crossing the border into Turkey might not be the biggest threat, but the asshole forcing them to move is. Agreed. Had Turkey not decided to try and extort an obscene amount of money fromt he U.S. to move troops through their country, they would not need U.N. assistance against Iraq.
Makes em look pretty fucking stupid to turn away 65,000 troops, then ask for help.
