It hasn't even gone into beta yet; I don't think they will make that release date.
But yeah, I am definitely buying it. I haven't played a FPS game competetively since the first Tribes. I was totally into Tribes until EQ came out.. I was in a clan and everything. Planetside looks a lot like Tribes only the world is persistant and you can train your guy to do different things. It should be pretty fun.
How can a player less skilled in twitch be effective?
Many of the roles listed above do not require twitch skills in order to be great. Basically, if you don't have to shoot well in a role, then you can do it well as a non-twitch gamer. The game is set up to support as many types of players as possible.
What happens when you die? Is there a limit on the number of people that can respawn from a location?
When you die, there is a respawn timer that must expire before you appear back in the world. The more players that are bound at a facility, the longer it takes for that time to expire.
How many characters can I have on a world server?
Currently, four. They must all be in the same Empire.
Will PlanetSide use pixel-perfect aiming?
No. PlanetSide uses a cone of fire aiming system. When crouched and stationary, the cone is very tight and close to "pixel-perfect". However, as you move, fire rapidly, jump, take damage, etc., the cone will open up somewhat. Projectiles fired with a wider cone may hit anywhere within that cone. Thus, skill is important, but it also matters what you're doing, and how you're doing it.
I hear PlanetSide will implement friendly fire damage. How will this work?
There is an extensive Grief Point System that will be revealed at a later date. This is to help avoid the problems of friendly fire, while still maintaining the advantages and realism that friendly fire allows.
What are the game's requirements?
This is not finalized. Current assumption is at 1.0Ghz CPU (more is better), a GeForce2 w/64MB VRAM, 512MB RAM (the RAM requirement may be lowered in the future...more details after further testing). A good sound card wouldn't hurt either. Neither would a broadband connection (although 56K Modems are supported).
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
It's also related to the way that you can turn instantly while running at full speed and not lose any accuracy. Rainbow Six was the first game I played that addressed this.
yuppers, I have been following the boards for the last few months. It looks like there are a lot of kids complaining that they can't afford a monthly fee and so on. That's good though because the last thing I need is a 12 year old gloating over my rotting corpse. I had enough of getting whooped by preteens when I played Magic. This is a for sure buy though. I hope they do make their release date. I'd hate to have it come out when SWG comes out.
Ive been highly anticipating this for about two years. Ever since the site first came live I've read all the updates. Just cant bring myself to post on the forms with all the retards there.
I think I may try this game out for a while. Should try and get all the wonderfully nice and sweet people from here at VV to try and hook up on the same server and teams to cause general happiness and spontaneous niceties there for those poor suckers.
Serious Sam II is probably one of the greatest modern salutes to the Doom/Duke age of FPS. It has little to no plot and 100% carnage. There are times in that game where you don't stop shooting for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. It's also dirt cheap, with an MSRP of $19.95. Good times.
I've almost gathered all the pieces for my epic... gaming machine! I should have it completed by the time Planetside is released So I am also game for playing on a VV Team.

will you follow my orders?
I played with you in AO a bit, and all I can say is, 'Hell yes.'
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
I would not follow you to a lesbian lovefest that was starring every playmate since 1997. You are a despicable cunt that I am ashamed to have even been on the same server as in EQ.

don't be so bitter. I'm sure there will be a CT-like clan in Planetside where you and 750 of your underskilled moron friends will stumble around and accidentally overwhelm 10-15 other players on a different team.
I would much prefer a very small group of people that I can rely on. Your knowledge of my abilities is about as much as your chance of ever earning respect from me.....zero.
well gee.....not as much as you obviously. I am surprised you could get a full group that could stand your ass.
Just because you sold out and left before CT started cutting back, don't blame me for your misinformation. I ended up doing things with groups that would be non-functional to you. Your ass would have needed more rezzes than Ishtanna could have given in a week.
grief me? the thought of you being better than me at anything besides being a stupid moron is hilarious. you fucking sucked at eq so badly I can only imagine how much you will suck at a game that takes actual skill to play.
go back to yahoo checkers with your retarded friends.

Why such hate? I mean, seriously... you'd follow Kyoucan to a lesbian lovefest that was starring every playmate since 1997. Don't even try to kid us on that one.

You seriously have to ask? Some bimbo that has not even seen anything past the HoT and was single boxing a rogue for that? Give me a fucking break. There are single groups killing mobs for exp that are tougher than any mob in HoT. Bitch has the audacity to talk about someone's playing skills that she has never witnessed first hand. She has had some serious beef with anyone in CT since the first day it was formed, yet has been in the same zone as them one time in her entire (albeit short) playing time. Yeah, I have some serious problems with mini mouth.
