Nvidia RTX 50xx
Re: Nvidia RTX 50xx
I would have to assume at least a terabyte of it so far.

Re: Nvidia RTX 50xx
I think I got in at a good time. Nvidia is supposedly going to reduce output for the consumer cards by 40%. I don't even see the one I got listed for sale (or in stock, at least) any longer and it's all $3k+ cards. Some of these are almost $4k wtf? Nvidia really did the consumer market dirty.. The one that made them in the first place. Greed wins in the end. SAD!
A lot of videos out there saying high-end gaming is now a luxury and prices won't ever return to what they were a year ago. I think my current system will be good for many years so I'm not too worried at this time. What I have now runs everything great so not sure why that wouldn't continue into the future.
I can't see the motherboard manufacturers like Asus or Gigabyte making out too well in the near future though. With it costing so much to put together a PC who is going to be buying motherboards? Having said that I think motherboards were way overpriced these days. It will be interesting to see how the hardware market fares over the next year.

Re: Nvidia RTX 50xx
Just a rumor that is going around. Between that and them supposedly reducing output on some of the lower end cards means it's going to be another GPUpocalypse.GeForce RTX 5090 Prices To Soar To $5000 As Nvidia And AMD Prep GPU Price Hikes in Q126

Re: Nvidia RTX 50xx
Man I checked RTX 5090 prices on Amazon today. $3800 was cheapest and most brands out of stock or $4K+
At this point people may as well go with the RTX PRO 6000 (workstation or MaxQ) it's holding steady at around $8,200 on new egg. for the price it's a "value" for 96GB vs 32GB now considering the cost.
Re: Nvidia RTX 50xx
That's why I bought one when I did. It's out of stock everywhere at the price I paid ($2560) but Amazon has it for $3500 but I think that's probably just some third party gouger. Looking over price history it seems MSI has increased their base price for that GPU by $150 since September. As long as the connector doesn't melt I see myself just using this card for many years. Other than vram I think we're pretty maxxed out on GPU technology at the moment at least as far as my uses go. I don't even have a 4k monitor.
With mine I've started noticing coil whine which people had reported in reviews I saw. Some said it went away over time but that hasn't been my experience so far. Maybe I'll try tuning the undervolt and see if that helps.

Re: Nvidia RTX 50xx
RTX 6000 PRO definitely has coil whine when it's under max capacity. In the past that possibly may have bothered me. I have a constant ringing in my ears, well my right ear, now so I'm past the point of worrying about dead silence. My right ear feels like it's hearing a high pitched coil whine 24 hours a day. The perk of getting old is I don't have to worry about reducing high pitched noises since I hear it constantly. As with most things, your brain learns to tune it out. Interesting thing is the whine goes away even with low ambient rain sounds.
You should definitely undervolt your 5090. My power bill actually went down (slightly) from last year with the 300W 6000 GPU. I was a little concerned about getting the MaxQ but it was the right decision. The fan isn't loud and the extra few percent performance the 600W version gives doesn't seem worth the extra power cost.
Re: Nvidia RTX 50xx
I have it undervolted.. But I sort of did a "good enough" at the time so I just need to dial it in a bit more. Hence "tuning the undervolt."
Anyway, it sounds like NVidia is effectively killing the 16 GB versions of their lower end 50 series GPUs. So if someone wants a 16 GB version I'd get it now if you can find one. I think those may just be the 5060 Ti and the 5070 Ti.
