Shameless

Post by Funkmasterr »

I got all excited when I saw this show on Netflix. Then I realized the good show I'd watched a few times must be a remake of a British show with a cast of remarkably unattractive people, whom I can understand maybe half of the time. I really want cable back :(

yeah, with William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum. Think it is on the 2nd season so far on Showtime.

I'm sure the Brit version is vastly superior.

Well it's listed as a British comedy on Netflix, but the accents sound Irish to me. I have a really hard time understanding them, I can follow the basics of what's going on but am missing a lot of the other stuff. And I just can't see te sex appeal part of the show when everyone's teeth are rotting out of their mouth.

I would hold out for the US version. It's set in Chicago, and the overall character/storyline is the same.

Haven't seen much of the UK version, but just started into the 2nd season of the US version. It's good, but it's not a must-watch show for me. I'd have to categorize it as quality filler.

I agree about the UK version... I've trained myself to be able to decipher plenty of BBC accents/dialects from previous shows, but this show is a real challenge. Is that what ppl from Manchester usually sound like, or is this some kind of Frankensteinian language made up of the worst of Scotland, Ireland and Cockneyland?

After watching a video the other day that I believe was supposed to be funny, which consisted of an Irish guy trying to use the Siri function on a iPhone, which of course didn't understand his gibberish, I assume any euro language that doesn't make sense is Irish. Jammy dodger? If its a sandwich, fucking call it that!

Point being my assumption that it's Irish is likely wrong, but I'm pinni h it on them anyway.

They're not English, they're not Irish, they're just pikey.

The show (proper US version, of course) is still going strong. This week's episode was decidedly dark...wow, dark.
