Not sure anyone actually uses these instanty-upon-purchase outdated consoles anymore but there is an RPG for the platform that's supposed to be pretty good.
Lost among this week's barrage of awesome new video games is The Last Story, a role-playing game that's slipped pretty damn far under gamers' radars considering it was designed and directed by the man who created Final Fantasy.

You might be tempted to ignore this one. It's for Wii. You probably haven't touched yours in a while. Maybe it's in the closet, collecting dust with your Ninja Turtle action figures. Maybe you still haven't finished Xenoblade (it's hella long). Maybe you're playing Darksiders II or Papo & Yo or waiting on the new Mario game. Maybe you were just going to let this one pass by.

Oooo, Northern California vernacular 'hella'. Credibility -> notsomuch

However, I am glad I never bought a Wii. In fact, I am trying to figure out a way to use Kinect without becoming 'hella' bored.

I haven't turned on the Wii in like two years but it has nothing to do with being "outdated". I just really hate the Wiimote. For me personally the controller is the weakest part of the Wii.

As far as the game goes... GameInformer only gave it 6/10! Kotaku just really sucks these days imo. And their commenting system is pathetic as well.

Nintendo is soon to be just another cautionary tale if they don't start putting their games on other platforms.

Xenoblade is the best thing on the platform and worth the price of the Wii just to play it.

I tried it out using an emulator on my PC. Seemed ok but not outstanding. Performance wasn't that great on the emulator though.

It's only real flaw is that it looks like dog shit. It takes about 15 minutes for me to adjust, but once I do it's not really that bad (for the Wii). The music is top notch and it has a lot of cool new ideas that are executed well. It has 92/100 on metacritic for a reason. The graphics are just too big of a barrier for most. That, and it was only available in Japan until eariler this year. It had no advertising either.

It is the very definition of outstanding. It's the best jrpg I have played since the golden years of the snes days (chrono trigger, ff3, secret of mana) and gives me hope for the future of the genre.

Combat system could use some variation and the camera is retarded, but the story is descent and the voice acting solid. I like their quest hubs and it really is the best looking game I have ever played on the Wii. First time in two years we dusted that piece of shit off.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Finnished it. Well paced game, but the combat got kind of samey at the end and there was not any real element of exporation to it, even the minimal ones of the older FF games. I give it a 7/10, worth one play but only replay if you were really into it the first time.
