Tron Legacy
44 million, a good start, but considering the movie cost 170 mil to make, it's still got a ways to go.

Re: Tron Legacy
Serenity only cost 40 million. I'd rather watch 4.25 Serenity Movies than 1 Tron Sequel.masteen wrote:44 million, a good start, but considering the movie cost 170 mil to make, it's still got a ways to go.

Re: Tron Legacy
I found the movie quite enjoyable.
I like how many themes were borrowed from The Matrix... which borrowed a lot of it's themes from the original Tron.
The music was incredible, the effects weren't groundbreaking but were outstanding nonetheless.
Jeff Bridges (both of him!) were excellent.
Serenity is garbage.
This movie is not.

OK, I'd rather watch 2 Serenity movies with twice the budget of the original to fully realize Wheaton's vision!miir wrote:

Re: Tron Legacy
Fan reaction has been pretty positive for the most part. I'm a fan of the original, so I'm thinking I will enjoy this when it comes to DVD/digital download.
Re: Tron Legacy
Happy to see good reviews here for it...my brother wants to go see it real bad in the theatre...I was a little worried, but now I'm not! hurray!

Re: Tron Legacy
Daft Punk did the whole score for the movie. That alone makes it worth seeing in my opinion.miir wrote:The music was incredible

Re: Tron Legacy
They even have a cameo in the movie

This is a movie you'd probably want to see on the big screen... in 3D!Fairweather Pure wrote:I'm thinking I will enjoy this when it comes to DVD/digital download.

Re: Tron Legacy
Well, i never been a fan of the old Tron movie, and a movie that, according to the trailer, seems to sell itself on 3D, being a sequel to a 20+ year old movie i dont care for, and music by Daft Punk, is something i'll aviod like the plague

For maybe the first time ever, I agree with Hesten. It would take them putting a streaming insert into the film of Angelina Jolie blowing me live for me to even contemplate watching this crap.
Re: Tron Legacy
Was pretty fuckin fun experience at the IMAX. Too each his own.

Re: Tron Legacy
Yea, I can't quite understand the hate.
It's really just a fun action/aci-fi movie.
It's not pretentious, it even pokes fun at itself on a few occasions.
You don't have to be a fan of the original to enjoy it. My wife really liked it and now she wants to see the original... even after I warned her that the effects are super cheesy.

Re: Tron Legacy
I finally saw this movie (in 3D!). It started a little slow, but once they were in the computer, I thought it was a great ride. The story was just "ok", butl I was able to let go and enjoyed it for what it was. The Tron universe is just so well realized it is easy for me to look past the flaws. The entire world was eye candy and so is Olivia Wilde. I can't keep my eyes off of her whenever I see her in a movie.

Re: Tron Legacy
If you're looking for more Tron, the new animated series Tron Uprising on Disney XD is absolutely fantastic.

Well, it ended up making over $400mmasteen wrote:44 million, a good start, but considering the movie cost 170 mil to make, it's still got a ways to go.
That's roughly 10x more than Serenity.

Re: Tron Legacy
I didn't like the original nor the new one. But, I probably spent less time playing the arcade game than most folks from my generation. I was more of a Galaga/Zaxxon guy.
As for the Tron Legacy: The Jeff Bridges CGI guy was fairly well done, as was all the other CGI. Tech teams did a great job of fleshing out the world. However, the script was a bit flimsy for me, but I think that may be more of a Disney issue than anything else.
A director not handcuffed by corporate politics would have been able to do something truly cool with it (it, meaning a script that was written by a good screenwriter also not encumbered by aforementioned nazi-mouse company).
