My fear of heights is strange. I get a little queasy from 4 floors up to about 45 after that it becomes almost surreal and the uneasy feeling goes away.

Scary pict though.

Once your above three floors its all the same. And that aint shit. Those guys can step back inside. Imagine looking over that drop and knowing once you start down the rope, your gonna take it to the end.

Heights don't bother me so much as the fear of falling. So yeah, no way you would catch me with a job similar to the one in that picture. I don't like elevators and I can't stand flying. But being high up - in a nice safe area doesn't seem to bother me as much.

Actually, I am deviod of any height based virtigo or even adrenal reactions, I think.
I think I have a very accute for of claustrophobia though, but only when it is so tight I cannot move. Then I get paniced, then angry, then I usually get free.

My only phobia (not scared of death, sharks, snakes or anything like that) is getting into like a fender bender in the wal mart parking lot....arguing with the guy....getting into a scuffle, him falling and hitting his head and dying. Happens all the time, and most the time instead of self defence, you punched the guy first so its man slaughter. Yea, my only phobia is going to prison over a spur of the moment argument cause I have such a bad temper. But hey, the fear of this has kept me clear of trouble so far!

My trip was elevators. Being a Highrise window cleaner for eight years, I have had to ride many an elevator. I always looked at the little space between the car and the floor. If there was an inconsistancy in the level I was always a little nervous getting on. When I went over the side of a building. I had a couple lines, one for saftey and the other for work. I knew what I was tied too and had a sense of security from somewhere. Never really figured out where. I didnt like scaffolds, but I would ride the swingstage if I knew my partner was as fast and good as I was. Nothing like waiting on the other guy to finish his side all day.

I preferred chairdrops solo. highest drop for me was 72 floors on a 3/8 nylon rope that was short of hitting the ground by 22 floors when I started down.

After you get down to 30 floors ya gotta be real careful how much line you allow through the descent control device. You release tension for an instant and it takes like 2-3 seconds before you move down.

All in all it was fun work I learned how to write a lot of shit backwards.

well you get the picture =)

Not really scared of heigghts, but yeah there's certain situations where the probability of death is high and then it gets scary. I mean I could be on the top floor of an 80 story building with a windows that's flow to ceiling and be just fine, in fact, intregued to look out. On the other hand if I was on the roof of a 5 story building I wouldn't walk to the edge in fear of trippingn and falling over the edge or something.

My biggest phobia is stinging insects, aka bees, hornets, wasps. Have had too many bad encounters in the past, espeically one notable one as a kid. Still remember the pain and fear that day.

I'm normally not scared of heights but going up to the top of the Tower of Piza scared me a bit.

There are no guard rails all the way up. I got to the top and had butterflies in my stomach...went right back down.

I despise heights.

A few years back a friend convinced me I was cheating myself not hunting from treestands, so I bought one and tried it out.

I swear it took me twenty minutes to get off the top tree step and into the stand. I could see through the grate that formed the platform, which scared the snot outta me!

I back down on my lil stool at the bottom of the tree now. Twnety feet up was seventeen feet to far for me.

That pic makes me queasy :(

I fear heights, sharks, roller coasters, and tickles. Tickling me is a sure way of getting a black eye or an elbow in the nuts.

Or worse those little gnats. Swams of gnats.

I was on a road trip to Canada and we stopped at one of the great lake states (can't remember which, the western most one I think), and it twas may fly/moquito season. There was about 20-25 feet between 2 building at the resort we were statying at and you walked out the door and couldn't see the other building.

I don't have any acute phobias, but clowns make me uneasy to the point where I am extremely uncomfortable around them and have to put some distance between us. My dad said when I was little (like 3 or 4), a clown thought that it would be clownishly hilarious to sneak up on me and stick his face right up against mine and scream, and I was so scared that my dad had to take me home because I wouldn't stop crying.

I'm more fascinated by sharks and spiders and snakes than anything else, and I used to go rock climbing and I've gone skydiving so heights are the last thing that bothers me. But clowns.. man get those fuckers away from me.

I go catatonic if I stand at the edge of a balcony and look straight down. I get caught up in a vertigo so strong, I am 100% sure I will fall over and drop to my death. I actually fainted on a hotel balcony in Paris once...

im scared to death of spiders
I hate spiders more than anything
I see a spider i either kill it or flee.
when i was younger I was running through a garden maze at my grandmother's house and ran face first into a garden spider's web that happened to have the spider sitting face level square in the middle of the web. After beating the spider to a pulp using my face as a foundation for beating. My cousin found me lying on the ground, face bloody and covered with spider guts and the only thing I could say to him was "is it dead?"

Really hate spiders, really really really hate spiders.

Last time I got on a roller coaster, I honestly thought I was going to fall out and die. Its weird how fear can be so strong.

Why does being in Paris make anything sound cool? Instead of acknowledging your horrific moment, all I could think was "Lucky bastard!"

Spiders are our friends Sylvos. :) We weren't allowed to kill them growing up. My dad would get them to crawl onto a piece of paper & then deposit them outside. I love the little things.

Stephen King's *IT*. The guy who got sucked in the pipe I went to school with. So after I saw the show I laughed at him and called him a pipe sucker. He wasn't happy.

He also dealt drugs in one of the 21 Jump Street Episodes in the bathroom.. or was he a bully, I forget.

But he was a total wanker.

I'm bored at work.

I am very much afraid of heights. Elevators, planes, and helicopters don't bother me, because I'm in an enclosed space, and I feel protected. But I can't stand getting too close to the edge of tall balconies, or looking off the side of cliffs. I took a hot air balloon ride once, and I can't ever remember being so frightened. All that stood between me and 5,000 feet of doom was a rickety old basket. Very scary. :)

Spiders don't really scare me, but I hear they're the second most common phobia among people in general (heights being #1). I can't remember where I heard that, but I think it was from my friend's dad (who produced the movie Arachnophobia).

Spiders is about it... had a big mother fuckin spider in my basement one time, I dropped a foot long piece of a 2x8 on it and it bounced off!

Times like these call for desparate measures.
