Gamescon Game Videos

Post by Winnow »

There's been quite a few game videos released for the start of Gamescon.

Here's a few

Otherworld

http://youtu.be/xiPDkMC8APk?hd=1

WTF? It looks like some sort of gamer play off Second Life. Video starts out kind of blah but looks cool at the end. It seems to be a game container that lets you do multiple things within the virtual world. You extract and inject eDNA with some pointing thing on your hand.

Not a WoW clone for sure.

TERA

http://youtu.be/ukx_imsPLx8?hd=1

Kind of a cool video because it focuses on the healer...but...she doesn't heal anyone in the video. lol. Anyway, this game's release is somewhere around April 2012. Too far off for me to think much about it.

DOTA 2

http://youtu.be/-cSFPIwMEq4?hd=1

Cool video. No game play. Not into real time strategy games myself.

Eligium

http://youtu.be/-cSFPIwMEq4?hd=1

Another WoW type clone although no game play so hard to tell.

Guild Wars 2

http://youtu.be/4P_FkGJIT-s?hd=1

Best game in the history of history! Video starts off little slow but picks up at end.

Wildstar MMO - New game frm NCSOFT

http://youtu.be/spXvxjpja7o?hd=1

Looks like fun. Has a slight Firefly feel to it. Space/Cowboy/Steampunk

Chinese MMO inspired by DAoC. This video cracks me up. It reminds me of an old, poorly translated Kung-Fu movie.

Wildstar looks pretty neat, as far as cinematic introductions go...not too keen on the furry/cosplay character, but neat nonetheless!

Have not had a chance to watch the others yet.

Looking forward to World of Warplanes from wargaming.net. They're also doing a sea version, but I can't remember the name of it right now.

Holy Worlds of Warcraft Batman! Gaining Rage to use abilities? Visit your class trainer after you level up? "Those who've played other MMO's will be familiar with the playstyle", lol.

All my questions were pretty much answered between this video and the other one that focused on grouping. This particular vidoe drops a player into a Star Wars universe that lacks pretty much anything familiar at all in the known Star Wars movies other than sound effects. The character models and animations are wooden and don't look good at all IMO. The environments looked ok though!

To anyone who played KOTOR a lot, Korriban is very familiar. I agree about the animations, I hope they polish them in the next 3 months. Character appearance is probably not going to change much, as it draws a lot from the Clone Wars style, which I am sure was a directive from LucasArts.

Are you serious about this criticism? Are you honestly implying WoW was some massively innovative gameplay experience?

I don't think he's played any other MMO outside of EQ and WOW
