The Hulk Superbowl trailer...
I just got through watching it online and I havta say that I'm rather dissapointed in the computer effects.
First of all the Hulk is completely CGI based. From the trailer, he looks like a poorly animated Shrek with muscles. I mean I was watching that and I was reminded of the quality that was in Beast Wars it was so bad.
Hopefully they'll clean that shit up like they did with Spiderman. The end result movie looked a lot more realistic than the trailers let on.

I, for one, am glad that we are seeing the proliferation of so many movies based on comic books. It's cool that technology in movies is to the point where you can make a Spiderman that isn't too far off from the picture I had in my head. Hulk didn't look too bad to me, I'll definitely go see it and base my judgement off of that. Better than making another goddamn movie with Renee Zellweger in it.

It was toward the tail end of me following comic books, but I think the Hulk became smart at one point. Like he was all big and Hulk-y yet retained the knowledge of Dr. Bruce Banner. Or something. Could be that this is the smart one, I have no clue.Truant wrote:Not that I was every really a hulk fan anyways. I was more partial to super heroes who spoke in complete senteces
Daredevil might be good though.

The Smart Hulk (tm) came when Sal Buscema started writing for The Incredible Hulk if I remember correctly. Hulk went from being a semi-interesting super hero to a completely yaaaaaaaaawn lab rat who could turn green at will.
zzzzzz.
I just wish they'd shape up and make a movie out of Frank Miller's great works; Dark Knight Returns, Ronin and Sin City.

actually i think when he became smart hulk he lost the ability to change back into bruce banner.Drolgin Steingrinder wrote:The Smart Hulk (tm) came when Sal Buscema started writing for The Incredible Hulk if I remember correctly. it was pretty important for the series to do that I think. I mean I never read too many comic books when I was little, but you can only do so much with HULK MAD! HULK SMASH!
it was kind of cool because instead of having this normal guy that couldnt control his rage he was like this big huge green mother fucker with a human brain and emotions and stuff and he sort of had to deal with his new situation.
tho he probably got a broody and angsty like every other comic book hero because all comic book writers are either goths or closet goths.

Hulk is my favorite comic hero. Yes for a while, Hulk was permantly the green Hulk (in his mind, the grey hulk*ego*, banner*smarts*, and savage hulk*muscle* all merged into one badass) with Bruce's IQ. So basically, he was super strong (not as strong as the savage hulk because the Bruce hulk hardly ever got mad, and we all know Hulk gets stronger the madder he gets) and had Dr. Banners smarts. His fatal flaw was when he did get mad, it was getting harder and harder for him to control the rage inside him, and I think he eventually reverted back to savage Hulk, I am not sure cause this is around the point I joined the military and stopped getting the comics.
The tv Hulk of old was pretty crappy, because in the comics, Hulk hovered around 9-10 feet tall and had tons of mass. For the tv show, obviously no CGI was available in the 70's (or 80's, I cannot remember) so they got the biggest HUMAN they could get, Lou. So, seeing hulk about 1/3 the size of a tank is pretty normal if you are a comic book fan.
People will go see it. Like me, I did not like how Spiderman looked too CGI'ish, but ultimately I thought the movie was awesome and I overlooked it.
I cannot wait. I just wish Dr. Doom could make an appearance. My favorite villain, due to him being able to woop most super heroes, but he himself has not mutant powers or abilities. Just his genius IQ and awesome body suit that he himself created. Good stuff a comin.
-edit- you will be glad they went CGI, seeing hulk on the big screen with Vin Diesel painted green, and grunting to lift a washing machine does not do the character HULK from the comics justice. He is SUPPOSED to be this big, he is SUPPOSED to be tossing tanks around like paper airplanes. We get to see his sonic clap attacks that send out sonic booms, ground shattering earthquake punches (you know, like rumble from Transformers).
I hear they are coming out with a Fantastic Four movie soon. Don't be fooled by the Thing, hulk has beaten him to a pulp so many times it kinda makes you feel sorry for the guy. The only two people that have held their ground against hulk with physical strength are Juggernaut and Superman.

Oh most vary yes! Miller's takes on Wolverine and Elektra were pretty good too.I just wish they'd shape up and make a movie out of Frank Miller's great works; Dark Knight Returns, Ronin and Sin City
Sin City movies would so so pwn and they'd undoubtedly get mainstream interest. /pray.
Once those are done they can start on the 2000AD canon. Alan Moore's "Ballad of Halo Jones" pls. Or an ABC Warriors film. omfg. yes.
Just keep Stallone away from them ><

Hats off Krimson. It's good to see someone that was as big a comic geek as I was back in the day.
I read an article on Dark Horizens, an internet movie hound site, and they had a little rumor last year when Hulk had just started shooting. It seems some guy who runs a movie prop warehouse in Hollywood said a particular studio had came and rented every single police uniform, riot outfit, prop-gun, ect, in the entire metro area. Apparently that's OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS, since police items are used so much in movies. Other studios were rather upset because no one was going to have police items available for the next week or so and they hadn't planned on not having those props. Of course, the movie that required every police prop in town was none otehr than HULK.
I'll go see it.

I'm in the process of moving into a new apartment at the moment, so I got a ton of old moving crates out of storage: Lo and behold, eight moving crates full of old Marvel and DC stuff...God, the memories. I have promised myself not to look into those boxes too deeply until I am fully moved in, otherwise I'd never get anything done, I'd just hunch up in bed with coffee, a blanket and a bag of chips.
Tanc: I doubt we'll ever see Sin City made into a movie, at least not with the budget it deserves. Frank Miller's writings are (as others have said before me) even more nihilistic and gritty than Raymond Chandler's, and happy endings aren't exactly commonplace.

The Hulk always has been one of my favorite comics. The Hulk as far as size and muscle is very accurately portrayed in the movie trailer. The TV show always disappointed me because of how much they had to downplay The Hulk's strength due to technical and budget reasons.
I will definately go to see this movie. Oh and Frank Miller is the Shnitz.
