Normally people won't buy 3 different racing games either. ModNation being an exclusive cart racer is different enough for the others to get a decent following but the 2 others most likely just split the market.

Also, competing with Red Dead Redemption and Alan Wake didn't help things any.

I'll more than likely pick up both Blur and Split/Second.. Maybe even at the same time. When they get cheaper. Other than the basic racing aspect I think they differ more than they are alike.

Both are semi-realistic (graphic wise), arcade racers... I think that's close enough. :)

Both are also quality games.
If you enjoy racing games, you can't go wrong with either.

I have not purchased a racing game since Need for Speed: Underground, which I believe was one of the first XBOX360 releases.

So Blur and Split/Second are the best to choose from?

360 or PS3, I care not which.

I think that depends on what you're looking for. You should probably check reviews. And I know S/S has a demo I'm not sure on Blur. It probably does too. S/S sounded more interesting to me but apparently the 'gimmick' or whatever gets old after an hour. At least that's what I hear.

Out of those two I'd probably recommend Burnout Paradise (also has a demo) which you can get, along with all the DLC, for $30!

@Gamer can best be described as the USA Today of game magazines. Not that the others are examples of brilliant writing and layout, but with @Gamer I almost expected lazers to shoot out of the pages. Lots of pictures. I am betting most articles (even the 2 pagers) are no more then 100-200 words. It is not bad, but I don't know if I will be subscribing.

The main pull will be the coupons. The issue I have has $20 off Bioshock 2, Tiger Woods 11, Skate 3, Halo ODST and 2010 Fifa World Cup and $15 off Prince of Persia; the Forgotten Sands, Wii Just Dance, and Assassin's Creed 2.

This may sum up the magazine, this is directly from the Editor letter.
Our Mission with @gamer is simple: Help Gamers quickly figure out which games are hot and worth your well-earned money.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

You should care! The PS3 controller SUCKS for racing games with those lame short convex triggers. 360 is much better controller for racing games. Your fingers will thank you for buying the 360 version.

Nope, I truly do not care, but would lean towards the PS3 due to the 360 being so damn loud--not that it matters too much when I turn the volume up to a sizzling -8.oo though. ;)

As for the controller, it has never bothered me, but I do agree that the 360 controller is superior. If I really was bothered by it I believe there are modified triggers out there for the PS3 controllers.

There are little plastic clip-on concave triggers you can get at EB games for a couple of dollars.

Until the horrible load time in ModNation are improved, I'd say go with Blur.

Ah yeah, those are the ones I was thinking of--believe I saw them on Amazon.

And thanks--load times suck, I'll check out the Blur demo. :)

That wasn't even one of his selections! Then again neither was Burnout Paradise but I think that's a better deal until the new ones hit bargain bin territory.

Gamestop will have Red Dead Redemption tomorrow at noon (EST) for $24. This will only last an hour and "quantities are limited" so if you can get it at that price you might want to pick up some lottery tickets as well on the way home.

(Online only of course)

Oh and if you're trying for RDR (30 more minutes!) you might have better luck with ebgames.com. gamestop.com is pretty much dead.

PS3 version of Bayonetta $20 at Amazon. I know I said I'd probably pick it up when it hit the $20 mark but now that it's $20 I still don't want to. But passing along the info to those who might!

FF13 at Amazon for $30. Today only. I guess it didn't sell as well as they anticipated and got way more copies than they can sell!

Just Cause 2 also on sale for $37 which might be a bit high. They should have put that at $30 too to entice more purchasers.

Oh and Supreme Commander 2 for PC/360 ($20/$26) as well if you're into that sort of thing.

Unfortunately, not very many people are actually playing Borderlands on PC.
It's only a medicore single player game... Online is where it's at.

I'd rather pay the extra $$ for the 360 or PS3 version.

That's a good price but I hear there's a lot of hacking on the PC version so you got people running around with crazy weapons and shields. I'd probably skip the Zombie DLC as well. I'm mixed on Moxxie although the weapon bank or whatever could be useful. Knoxx is definitely worth the money though so for $13.33 you could get good value for money. I didn't really play online but I hear that can mess up your missions as well in some instances so you should either do them all online or all offline.

I know a couple of people IRL that have the PC version. I'm going to try to coax a few of them to play it again. (hopefully it works). One of my-co-workers picked up all 3 DLC packs last night so I know he'll be playing.

Maybe if you play it at the appropriate level it might be fun. I was 50 and plowed through it and zombie crap in general just bores me. Sorry I just don't gt the appeal especially when it seems like just about every game is throwing zombie in these days. Red Dead Redemption needs zombies? Really?

Quick FYI if you get this and are running ATI hardware running the latest drivers (10.7)

Disable the AI feature of the Catalyst software. There's a problem between that and Borderlands that will cause the game performance to completely die after about 10-20 minutes of play.

I turned that off, turned on Triple Aliasing and I can now run the game flawlessly at 1980x1080. It looks absolutely glorious.

On Steam you can get L4D 1 and 2 for like, 10$ for both. All the DLC for both games, including the DKC release today, are free.

I do not have L4D 1 on PC, but that game and all it's DLC are cheaper than buying 1 episode of DLC on the 360. Sold!

I heard it had impressive player upgrade options, but is most certainly NOT an RPG.

Is this game anything like FFXIV? I heard it is pretty cool when you unlock the Hello Kitty Adventure Backpacks.
