Loved it. Very much in the footsteps of the original, and no traces of plot ripped from the OC. I love Robert Rodriguez's handling of this movie, because he understood what it was, and made the most of it.
I'm surprised to say Adrien Brody was a very good choice (he buffed up enough to pass as a merc), and didn't try to bring too much emotion to an action role. Nice to see Machete getting more work as well!

Brody is no stranger to manipulating his body, though, as he lost 30 pounds for his role in The Pianist. And according to sources, Brody packed on 25 lbs for his role in Predators. Brody noted that his dedication allowed him to turn heads in the industry.
“It’s a role that a studio wouldn’t necessarily have me on a list for,” Brody admitted. But he noted that surprising people was part of his motivation. “I think that fans have expectations if you’re going to reboot a series like that — so there’s a certain amount of risk that inspires me.”
Brody’s routine was essentially that of a bodybuilder looking to pack on quality muscle mass – increasing meal frequency to arrive at about six meals daily, limiting alcohol and refined sugar intake, and of course, a heavy dose of weight training. Brody said that the regimen took its toll.
“It was a very challenging thing for me to embark on,” he said. The challenge is part of what attracted Brody to the role, however. “I’ve made a conscious decision my entire career to try and find things that are different than something I have done recently. To always push myself and keep it interesting.”
And the road to his new body was interesting to say the least. Brody said that at first, there was some concern over how well the plan was working and whether he’d be ready for filming.
“When I was training, I wasn’t really showing off the progress,” Brody recalled. “At the end, I think I scared them because I had grown a lot and they were all pretty shocked at how I looked.”
You’ll likely be shocked as well if you go see Predators.
