Legalizing marijuana
With California getting closer to its vote on legalization...and more headlines coming up about it.....what are the odds that it passes out there? I know the federal government has been trying to intervene since they passed the medicinal legalization with Bush and company.....but I am fairly certain that if it was taken to the Supreme Court that this would be covered under the 10th Amendment. Is someone going to be having a party out there late this year?

Hard to say unless they do one of those MTV-like "Toke the Vote" things. It may just fly though. I doubt if legalization will create a rival for the wine industry though. I'm all for it. Legalization would drive down cartel profits, plus it is just another dated prohibition. I don't smoke pot anymore so I wouldn't shed any tears if it fails.
I know that Oregon fell way short on signatures to get it on the ballot here.
But really, it is so fucking easy to get a medical card here or in CA anyway! I think it would be fun to have a legal grow room though. I enjoyed growing the weed back in the 90s.

I'm not sure legalization will fly at this point in time. If anything they should at least make it like an offense like a parking ticket or something. The courts and jails shouldn't be bothered with this sort of thing. Make room for more serious offenders.

It already is like that in most places. In many locations (even here in Ohio) a small amount is basically like a speeding ticket. They hand you the ticket, you pay the fine. The folks in jail are the ones engaging in trafficking or other offenses than possessing or personal use. The only thing that most people do not realize is that even with one of those misdemeanor "tickets", you are flagged as being under federal disability and certain rights are gone for you.
I am hoping it passes and gets into the courts to force a decision. The federal law on this one needs to go away.

Legalize it. Sell licenses to sell much like a liquor license. Tax the shit out of it. Save CA from going bankrupt.

BUT THOSE NIGRAS AND MESSICANS ARE USING IT TO VIOLATE THE WHITE WIMMINS!!!
"There is at least as much need to curb the cruel greed and arrogance of part of the world of capital, to curb the cruel greed and violence of part of the world of labor, as to check a cruel and unhealthy militarism in international relationships." -Theodore Roosevelt
