Gameplay video released for Star Trek Online: (looks like half video/half gameplay, but whatever, they say its 100% gameplay footage and I'm not impressed.)

I doubt the Klingons will want to share a thread with Romulans and Humans.

From what I saw, only Klingons and the Federation are playable.
Those interested in being Klingons might be want to visit The Klingon Language Institute, something I can barely believe exists.

How much are they supposed to show? They just bought the license from Perpetual. This game is 2-3 years away.

It's been in Dev for quite a long while iirc, but it's been handed off at least once, I think twice.

According to Jack Emmert at some Star Trek convention or something, it definitely less than 4 years away, probably less than 3.

If ships are common areas, expect "Pimp my Spaceship" to be the biggest sensation in the Federation.

I'm in. Been all kinds of disconnects/lag/downtime to play too much so far, but seems decent. Space battles are more fun than the away team/ground missions IMO.

Re: Single thread forum: Star Trek Online
I've been beta testing for awhile now, and overall, the game has a great deal of flaws and content issues. The Klingons (once unlocked by leveling a federation character up to lvl 6) have very little PvE content, and the content they do have is itemized poorly. Ground combat is boring. Space battle, on the other hand, is fun, but the interactive features that make MMOs so fun aren't the focus or even on display. I'm hoping that this all changes the more I level, but after my time in closed beta, I'm still not convinced this is any but another character-creation Cryptic piece of shit.

Re: Single thread forum: Star Trek Online
shame I couldn't get a beta invite. Sounds like the open beta would be the time to try it, since I'm not likely to buy it unless it turns out better than it sounds.

Re: Single thread forum: Star Trek Online
After dicking around the station forever, then reluctantly playing the content up to level 5, I've got to say I'm impressed with some of it. The universe is nicely realized for an MMO, tons of wanky customization, and space combat, especially with open instances, is really fun. Ground combat is abysmal, though, and I expect that's where a lot of the grinding is going to be. The god-awful turn-based phaser battles will kill this one. Also, pathfinding for your AI teammates is bad; like 1996 bad. Apparently FTL travel is no biggie, but your crack security teams are stumped at how to walk around a fucking pillar.
I listened to the Bombcast a day too late and missed out on a key there, but Eurogamer had a ton of them.
STO seems like a nice place to hang out, but I wouldn't want to grind there.

Have to agree, the collideable flora is awful. I cant walk 20 paces without getting stuck on something.
Space combat doesn't completely suck, I suspect I'll be tired of it in a month though.

Re: Single thread forum: Star Trek Online
I just started playing this on a whim. It actually is pretty cool. I haven't put many hours into it though. I do like the space combat and I am still getting used to the ground stuff as well. I was going to cancel my account after the free trial but then last night I found myself actually having a lot of fun defending Starbase 24 from the Klingons. I may keep it another month just to be sure.
Re: Single thread forum: Star Trek Online
I canceled after my free month, server stability was god awful and several times over that few weeks I would try to do a quest it would bug out not allowing me to drop the quest or complete it. I figured I would give it a few months to mature just a little and try again. Funny thing is, I put up with ten times as much crap when kunark launched and I ate it up, this pissed me off just a little and I was gone, must be old age.

Re: Single thread forum: Star Trek Online
I got the preorder, had some fun with the ship combat, maxed lvl in no time (39-40 takes the same time as 10-11) and canceled. Had potential, but was rushed and WAY too repetitive. Ground missions were horrible and everything was just a shoot em up which is not ST at all.
