Turtle Beach Headsets?

Post by Aevian Dreaklear »

I've seen these at my local Gamestop and BB and was curious as to people's experience with them. I play lots and lots of mp on MW2. I use the normal old school wired headset for my 360. The reviews I'm finding online aren't that helpful, so I thought I'd reach out to the VV community to see if anyone has used them. Wireless/wired doesn't make much of a difference to me, I'm looking at the X1 model as it is the least expensive. The big plus I'm expecting to get out of it is to hear sounds I normally wouldn't hear through the normal headset or the speakers. Any opinions are welcome, thanks!

I just bought the P21 today for the PS3 which seems pretty close to the X1 although at $80 it was more than I wanted to spend. I haven't really used it much yet through so can't give it much of a review at this time. Also picked up the new Army of Two game for $20 with purchase of headphones. That was a game I had no interest in but for $20 why not! Of course not opening that until I see how well the headset works out.

That looks fragile Kwon. Be careful. I bet you could crush it if you flexed your highly trained ear muscles!

I have had the X1 and X3. Spend the extra for the X3 and thank me later. Even though they appear to be the same size and all, the X3 just feels lighter and more comfortable when wearing it. It might have something to do with the 30 feet of cable dangling off the X1. The X3 runs on AAA batteries that last damn near forever with it. I would say the headset only has a roughly real range of 30 feet with line of sight. It can go further, but something inevitably will block the signal outside of that range....not that you necessarily will ever need to be that far, but when playing MW2 (which sucks my ballsack) sometimes you actually will have to get up to take a leak or get another beer and it is nice for your friends to tell you that you better squeeze it off and do a super fast tap because the game is starting in 8 seconds.

The sound from the X1 and X3 are both pretty stellar. You won't be disappointed there. I know the X3 has a seperate sound control for party chat...which is super nice. I cannot remember if the X1 has that feature. With the X3, while playing MW1 I could clearly hear footsteps coming from players who would be a floor above me and be clear enough to follow those footsteps and catch them coming down. There are times I even use my X3 to watch movies or TV if the wife is reading or something downstairs. They do a good inexpensive job of being another surround sound.I am telling you, you will not be happy with the amount of cables on the X1. It is the only downside to that set, but it is a friggin mess.

So the X3 one sounds pretty nice, and I'm tempted.. However, here is my question:

Is there a similar quality product that will work with my Xbox, PS3 and PC? I would love the headset for gaming on my xbox, watching Blu Rays on my PS3 and for the unfortunate times when people whine and bitch for long enough for me to get in Vent when I'm playing WoW. I'd rather not buy multiple products for the different platforms.

If there is such an animal, I am not aware of it. The problem would be with the compatibility between consoles. The headphones would work, but I am not sure you could get adapters to make the mic work between the platforms.

It has wires, but this looked pretty good. I was going to buy it, then my wife and kids bought me the X41 Turtle Beach headphones for my big 40th birthday today. I have to say, the wireless is sweet and the sound is amazing.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. You may end up being a hero on this one, sir. I am most likely going to be buying those, reviews sound pretty convincing :)
