Winnow, you're living proof that my statement is accurate.

(Edit: Don't expect a response if you bait me on this one. I'm sure the thread is Retard-worthy enough, without involving it in our ongoing pissing contest. Agreed?)

I don't know where you guys are hanging out but in my day to day life I've seen many young people who are ready to make a postive impact on society.

I write your negativity off as pithy ranting.

You mean petty, not pithy. :P Either way, I'll be the first to admit that living in Los Angeles colors my opinion on this issue. I'm not sure how it is in your neck of the woods, but the vast majority of the kids my age in LA are fucking worthless.

It's not worth it Adex. Millie will bitch and moan about anything. Even his positive comments are veiled in self doubt with loop holes to back out of them if confronted.

Millie, give those fucking kids a break! Lose the sweeping generalized statements and focus on a few individuals for research...go up to those crackheads and talk to them awhile...get into their minds and find the real reasons for their apparent problems....have a few sleep over at your place to get them off the streets....let me know how it goes : )

Pithy means "meaningful" or "cogent." Hardly the sort of word I'd use to describe negative "ranting."

*sigh* Millie I full well know that what I say here is going to be picked apart. I've been around long enough to know this, and I choose my words carefully.

I used "pithy" to express a mild complement towards your direction and in return you question my grasp of vocabulary?

How can you not be sure how it is in his neck of the woods but yet say that it is true of LA? LA is a pretty big place to say that vast majority of kids your age are worthless. Did you mean to say most kids your age that you personally know or have come in contact with?

Adex, I apologize if you meant to be giving a compliment. But given the original context, your post didn't come across as such. And as has been mentioned, I'm really not used to getting compliments around here. Being flame-baited every other thread by idiots like Winnow puts me on somewhat of a defensive tack. Anyway, I'm sorry.

I lived in Santa Monica near sunset and PCH from 1971 to 1998 ^_^. Yes nothing in the world can prepare people to drive the 405 during rush hours....its fuggin hell I tells ya. But belive it or not, the worst drivers in the universe are right here in New Orleans. The main thing that made me want to leave LA was the plasticness of most the people I met and how I kept seeing the what have you done for me lately attitude. Not to mention getting asked 29038290348 times for money everytime I got out of my car.

It's because Millie likes to be all inclusive in his statements. It sounds better if you generalize.

Millie lives in LA..therefore everyone in LA must suck ass. :!: Hey, I like this : )

I didnt mean for my post to be a flame as it wasnt intended to be that. I was just wondering if millie ment the people he came in contact with were all like that hehe. I'm not really in disagreement with ya millie cause I understand where you are coming from. I can safely say that 6 or 7 people out of 10 that I have actually met were suboptimal to say the least. If you are taking that small sample and extend that out to the entire LA area, then millie would be correct. The only problem with this is that all the people in different areas of LA county have different outlooks on life and different personalities. I was subjected to the idiots of LA city, Santa Monica Beverly Hills and those surrounding areas. Outside of those areas I feel you will find a better quality of personalties overall.

I heard John Mayer mentioned above and just wanted to make sure that everyone understands that his music is garbage. I also don't think he sounds like dave matthews, nor do I think their styles are really similar in any way. Dave doesn't sit and whine about hating his life cause his woman left him in damn near every song like john gayer does. thank you, drive through.

I'm one of those kids. I'm 18 years old, and am a high school senior. I have been visiting these pages (including eqvault) for two years or so, and gain so much from here. I'm also a member of our District School Board.

Generalizations based on age, sex, or race have always been proven to be baseless. Saying that the world is doomed in 20 to 30 years is highly inaccurate. The world is run by the intelligent, who have always used the stupid for their causes. There lies in American society many incredibly ignorant people who do things because they are told to. That 1 to 1 million person ratio of smart to dumb isn't on target, but the idea is there. For every smart child in school, there are five dipshits who are ready to do what that smart person tells them if only the intelligent child finds a way to work them. The same thing will happen in this generation as happened with all the ones that came before: the smart children will grow up and find ways to run this place, and the dumb pieces of shit that populate my town and many others like it will be nobodies. Twenty years from now, please rinse and repeat.

I couldn't agree with you more. I think his music is total crap. But I respect that he has the balls to admit as much. Someone interviewing him once asked him to comment on the speculation that he would be the next Bob Dylan or Dave Matthews*. John laughed, and replied that he'd be lucky if his career lasted a year or two.

His music may suck, but he's cool enough to be honest about it. He doesn't seem to have an ego, unlike every other shitty pop musician out there.

Sloan is the shit. I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that Canadian bands write more intelligent songs than American bands. Rush, Sloan, (as much as I hate them) Barenaked Ladies... the list goes on. And I really like Alexander Keith's beer. And Toronto and Halifax are two of the coolest cities I've ever been to. Beyond those though, Canada isn't all that appealing.

The actress who played the pink ranger out of costume was a she. However, her stunt double (when clad in the Power Ranger costume and helmet) was a man. I think that's what you're getting at.

DMB was awesome in concert! They did this jam session in the middle of their set, brought out Junior Brown (who opened for them) and had a bluegrass tinged hoedown. I always thought the studio stuff was just OK, but the live show really changed my opinion.

Of course, I took enough joints of hydro to get everyone within a 20 seat radius stoned, so my opinion may be biased. Also the 5:3 f:m ratio prolly also helped :D
