LOOT.
we open our shit early usually, so I get to start this off.
what did you haul in this year?
my 2 big gifts were rockband, and a print of a dozen or so men from easy company posing in St Marie-du-Mont on June 7th 1944, signed by one man in the photo who is still living (Forrest Guth) and whose camera took the picture
i also got the war memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant, 300 and Superbad on DVD, and Victory Through Air Power on DVD
big score!

Re: LOOT.
I already posted on the video game board about my 360 elite and other xbox loot, but I also receieved some other stuff too.
Simpson's Movie
Pajamas
1000 thread count sheets
Overall, Xmas at my parent's was pretty tame this year. My wife made out like a bandit though!
I have one more Xmas today where I'm hoping to score a DS or PC game!

Re: LOOT.
This is my first year in a very long time where I didn't get anything Techy or Gift Cards. That means no DVD's, Games, or the means to go out and buy the ones I want. It was surprising but not disappointing. I did get some good things.
Believe it or not, I have never owned a Packers jersey with a players name and number on it. As long as I have been here in GB you'd think I'd have at least one. Well I finally got one yesterday. #77 Cullen Jenkins Jersey. His daughter goes to school with my daughter.
I got a few other clothing type items and some Golf stuff. I had to give my family another outlet for items to buy for me. I plan on taking up Golf in 2009 as it is a great way to network with the Partners in my company.
The only unfortunate part now is that I have about 10 DVD's I need to buy myself now. Oh well.

PS3 and 2 Blu Ray movies (Dark Knight and Wall*E)

I have 2 more Xmas' to go. One on Saturday with my inlaws and the other with my family on New Year's Day when they get back from Disney. I'm not expecting anything over the top from here on out.

Re: LOOT.
I'm helping to counter the recession by injecting money back in...
My tech gifts I just gave to myself early...Blu-ray player and iPhone. I got my wife a Nikon D90 SLR camera. She's been wanting a digital SLR for probably like 5 years since we made the switch from a film SLR to a point-and-click digital camera. The kid got all kinds of Iron Man, Batman, Spiderman toys. I got my mom a digital camera, she's been using disposable cameras for too long
I got my father-in-law a new TV for his living room. Now I'm waiting to see how low/desperate the stores get to try and pick up a new TV for my bedroom and some BD movies. I got Dark Knight and Incredible Hulk for like 20-21 each before Christmas.
BTW, shouldn't we just have a new topic titled LOOT 2008?

Re: LOOT.
This 70 year old biologist I studied wolves with for a few months in Yellowstone sent me a great seasons greetings. It gave me as much or more joy than any particular gift.
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2009, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishes.
Screw it , I'm not politically correct, so have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Re: LOOT.
Asked for nothing this year, but got a few small items:
-Blender (from my mom after I metioned how much my hands hurt after making potato salad for every family activity we have using around 8-10lbs of potatoes)
-Towels (I have been wanting to replace the many maroon towels I have accumulated over the years)
-FIFA 09 for the 360 (from my sister)
-German Calendar and a couple books (from my grandmother)
-Ceramic and Glass Steins (from my mom's partner)
-a cat (from my dog) This has been an odd addition to the household as the cat follows the dog around pretty much everywhere since it showed back up after the neighbor it lived with moved out a couple months ago. The neighbor has continued to come by looking for her cat and dropping off food whenever she does, but we can never find the cat when she is there.

Re: LOOT.
For the most part, I got the same things as last year: cash, gift cards and misc. odds and ends. Nneena and I don't do Christmas for ourselves, but we participate in both of our families' Christmas gatherings and swapping-of-crap-we-don't-need rituals (there would be too much hell to pay if we didn't). Our loot hauls are relatively limited as a result. I'd happily get nothing if one or both of our families would let us pass on the whole Christmas thing.

EDIT: Mine has taken a pretty severe beating from my 2 girls (both under the age of 3) and it still workes great. The grey paint at the bottom has some scratches, but the rest looks like new. So, it's definately durable!

Re: LOOT.
PS3 + 10ish games
Nikon Coolpix camera
Some DVDs
A little over 1k in cash money (that's pretty much already spent, so it's all a wash, which is good for xmas IMO)
My two girls had an excellent Xmas. My wife got some really nice jewlery (she cried!) and the rest of her her gifts were themed around her wanting to write, so I bought out her Amazon wish list of writing books and supplies. I bought the Rockband 2 kit for my brothers and sisters, and gave my parents the Beatles game. That went over really wel. I was a little nervous about giving my parents a video game, but they ended up playing that all day on xmas.
It was a great year.

Re: LOOT.
My x-mas was gaming almost end to end. Since there is no new hardware cycle, this was wall to wall games.
Uncharted 2
Ratchet and Clank Future : Tools of Destruction
Ratchet and Clank Future : Crack in Time
2x 50$ PSN card (Already picked up GTA: Chinatown Wars for the PSP)
2x 50$ gift cards to Future Shop which I used this morning on their website for the following games:
Halo Wars 20$, Infamous 40$, Brutal Legend(PS3 version cause I downloaded the 1st DLC for free a few weeks back during the promo offer) 40$
Non-Game Related:
A very flavourful type of sea pepper and various spices
A shirt
Aside from MW2 and Borderlands, this catches me up to what I wanted to play in 2k9 pretty nicely.

The wife and I rarely buy gifts for each other.
We went to Costa Rica this year, just bought a new dish washer, sofa, chairs, coffee tables, end table and dinner table and redid our kitchen cabinents ourselves. Plus I bought her a mini cooper convertable, so I got nothing and neither did she. The kids made out well though.
