I'm looking for a recommendation, or advice, on software for a home jukebox. A friend has a stand alone PC with a touch screen and would like to use it as a digital jukebox, as close as possible to what you'd see in a bar. Anyone have any tips on this type of thing?

With touchscreen you will probably want to try something like E-touch.

I would buy an old jukebox, then mod it with an HP Touch. Replace the speakers, and add an external drive that would be dedicated to music only. That drive could be swapped out and new music added at will. You might even 1 up that and get wireless and stream everything to the jukebox from your home network.

I would estimate total cost around 1,500-ish depending greatly on the type of jukebox you get. Once you had all the parts, modification and assembly would be a fun weekend project.

I think it would be pretty fucking rad to have a touch screen mounted on the wall for this. Assuming you can stream directly to your home receiver from a a PC source, of course. I am going to do a bit of research as well, because it sounds relatively cheap to do.

The actual jukebox retrofit idea is cool, if you have the space. A basement comes to mind, or a gameroom sort of thing. Having a 6x6 or so touch panel on the wall would be pretty damn classy.

Thanks guys, I'm passing on the advice (and link). He's pretty excited by the idea, and I was surprised that he got his HP touch screen used for $150. That's not a bad price. I'll ask for photos when he's finished.
