It's not like some big secret, but aside of the morality of torturing an animal to that degree, all the stress hormones that fish released during preparation cannot make it taste better.

Most other forms of meat eating I'm guessing the critter is dispatched in a rather quick manner.

That's one example.. I don't agree with veal or even eat beef. Besides I said "most other forms" not every single one.

Slightly better(?) than the folks eating live monkey brains I suppose.

We used to hunt deer with dogs in SC, the stress\exertion made the meat taste nasty sometimes. Can't imagine this would taste good at all.

The increased agricultural land used to support a vegetarian\vegan diet causes a significant by-kill of wildlife. Depending on who's statistics you believe it's likely in excess of what would be killed to supply an omnivorous diet.

From what I understand the boiling water is pretty much an instant kill. However not being a lobster who has been boiled I can not confirm that.

To do it properly you have to put the lobster in the pot before you turn the fire on, comes out much better. Whacking them in the head first would be a good thing, but not something the people I saw cook them that way did.

A lobster that's been out of the ocean 15 minutes cooked that way is absolutely amazing.

I confront meat with my teeth (and sometimes a knife and fork). I don't know why you'd want to eat fish that's still wiggling if you had a choice. Bears don't seem to mind much.

The more humane way to do it is to drop the lobster head-first into a pot of boiling water. That will kill them pretty much instantly. Also, Lobsters make no screaming noise when boiled. They're also mighty tasty.

Best thing to do with a lobster is putting it in the freezer for a few hours before dumping them in the pot. They go into a torpor and never wake up.

Lobster is good but so is fresh Crab. I went out "crabbing" with someone north of Seattle. (well we took crabs from other people's crab traps since we were young and drunk) and had a clam bake right on the shore. I'm sure a lot of the perceived taste is the atmosphere in which you eat, but it sure tasted like the best crab I ever had! I'm guessing the crabs were alive before getting thrown into the boiling pot of water.

And you were lucky you didn't get the crap beat out of you.. or worse.
Down east, if you get caught poaching lobster you'll get your ass filled with buckshot.

And you can't 'clam bake' a crab.

Whatever! I don't pretend to know anything about cooking. And yes, it was stupid to snag crabs from other people's traps although up north, meaning north of Seattle, people are a little more friendly than the backwater hicks that you refer to.

Had baked cod with some cheddar on top for lunch, yum. I think it winked at me.

There was a war between fishermen and natives a few years back. It clashed violently a few times. Fishing boats were burned too. Fishernem are extremely protective of thier fishing zones and extremely unkind to people poaching their traps. Can't particularly blame them either. It's been slim picking for the better part of the last 10-15 years now..

hmmm im not sure thats totally a real fish .. i didn't read an article tho but shouldn't the eyes move as well? it kinda reminded me of one of those fishes that u put on the wall and it talks.

Also .. i don't see how the fish would be alive after being deep fried due to the massive amount of cytokines being released from all of the cellular damage on over like 80% of the body.

Lol, I wouldn't otherwise, but if some of the northwest fishermen would love to shoot someone who was poaching crabs, salmon or otherwise! Seattle, Portland, whatever. Most of the hardcore folks are out in the sticks and drive bigass trucks with assinine ORYGUN stickers.

Nice folks around here, but don't go stealin'!

PETA really pisses me off. I'm not even sure if their intentions are good any more. I feel like they favor controversy, publicity, and attention over any actual changes within our society.

If their intentions are truly noble, then I guess they are simply stubborn idiots.

The commercial is targetting factory farming of Turkeys. Factory farming is something we all should be aware of, but their only recommendation for us to battle factory farming is to never eat any animal products again!! The vast majority of people who watch this commercial are still gonna cook their goddamn turkey and they sure as fuck aren't going to give up all animal products overnight.

PETA could be far more successful if they promoted sustainable and/or local farming, whether or not it involves animal products. Is PETA not aware that some of the major staples in vegan diets can come from giant factory farms in countries across the globe, which often have terrible environmental records? Or that shipping these vegan staples across the globe can end up killing more animals than a responsible meat-eater could ever eat in his/her entire life?

Just some thoughts. I'm tired. Gnight.
