Retrotainment BBS

Post by Xouqoa »

So, I was feeling particularly nostalgic and set up a BBS.

You can access it in your browser, via a Flash based Telnet application, by visiting http://www.retrotainment.net

You can also use any standard terminal program (Putty is a good one) to access it, or via the regular telnet command in Windows.

It will mainly focus on door games, but I have some message groups there too. (Those are pretty lame compared to stuff like phpBB)

If there are any games you'd like to see, let me know. Currently I have Operation Overkill, and 2 games of Solar Realms elite running. I am planning on setting up 1 or 2 inter-bbs BRE games as well as soon a I find some leagues and find out what is needed to make it work.

Installed Games (bold is registered):
  • Operation Overkill
Solar Realms Elite #1 (w/ Inflation)
Solar Realms Elite #2 (w/o Inflation)
    Netrunner
    Trade Wars 2002
    Usurper
    Global War
Barren Realms Elite - League 000
Barren Realms Elite - League 555
    Falcon's Eye - League 000
Other games I have, but haven't installed yet, but will:
  • Planets: The Edge of Space
Legend of the Red Dragon (LORD)
Incompatible games that wouldn't work:
  • Mutants
    Esterian Conquest

Awesome! Poking around that board really brings back some memories. There was a game many years ago called Esterian Conquest that was one of the best space strategy door games I ever saw. I don't think it ever developed a really widespread following, but just about anyone that ever had the opportunity to play it loved it. It was addictive. Apparently, the game is lost, but if it ever reappears in a form that could be run on your bbs, I'm going to bug you to add it heh.

If it's not too much trouble, netrunner was a pretty fun door game. Oh, and i need access to the pirate and porn directories!

I'll look and see if I can find either of those, Xat.

I haven't had much time to play around on the BBS lately, but I have a good excuse. Our daughter arrived 2 weeks ago today, so I've been kind of tied down heh. I just wanted to say thanks for setting it up and putting the effort into it that you have. I'm looking forward to killing a little free time on the BBS once things settle into a routine.

That's cool man. My wife is due any day now, so I'll be in the same boat soon. :) Congrats!

Gratz to you both.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. Is that an old BBS game? If so, I'll see if I can find it for you.

It's an old Amiga BBS door similar to Legend of the Red Dragon.
