It seems that the pirate bay ( bit torrent site ) has sold out.
So someone coppied the whole damb site just before the new owners go legal and put it out as a torrent

21 Gig doesn't sound like all that much.
Re: The Pirate Bay sells out.
The "torrent" file is just for slicing and dicing the "real" file that is being copied while living on someones computer out in teh interweb.
The torrent file for pirate bay archives is 107k for the 21 gig file.
The 21 gig file is mainly files of about 100k ( ? ) that point to the "real" files that folks have put out there.
At least that is my limited understanding of the process.

They had little choice in the matter... They're going to jail. They sold the site, a lot of which will go to pay their legal fees, and the buyers are going to try taking it legit (ala Napster.) They will allow copyright holders to remove files, or allow them and get paid for each download.

Demonoid has been pretty good at dodging the bullet so far. I think the last thing they did was move the servers they have their site hosted on to a country with no piracy laws and such. I hope they don't go down this road anytime soon, but I suppose it's only a matter of time.
Re: The Pirate Bay sells out.
Demonoid is a staple of my torrenting career but it's hardly important. There are way too many torrent sites for me to care too much about any single one of them, and until the internet is government regulated we'll always get our piracy in.Funkmasterr wrote:Demonoid has been pretty good at dodging the bullet so far. Best site for cable shows (a la Dexter/True Blood/etc)? Was using Pirate Bay, which had it nicely organized.

Re: The Pirate Bay sells out.
I only ever use Demonoid, and I honestly have never had trouble finding anything I've looked for. I don't download a ton of tv shows but I did download all the seasons of Weeds and The Wire from demonoid with no issues and plenty of seeders.
