No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

Irish drinking music?

Best options include, in no particular order:

Christy Moore
The Pogues
Horslips
Van Morrison

With a full catalogue of this lot you can literally never go wrong. :)

For secondary listening,

Old U2. (Pre 1990)
Sinead O Connor's Traditional stuff.

Flogging Molly is ok for a bit of Irishy party fun.

Modern day?

Snow Patrol
Duke Special
And so I watch you from afar (this band is awesome but in no way traditional Irish, it's just the best stuff coming from the North at the moment).

You can always try some Frames/Glen Hansard if you are feeling a little introverted for some beautiful modern day balladry. Damien Rice is great for that too.

Personally I'm always up for Van, he's absolutely fucking fantastic. Christy Moore is much more traditional, whilst Horslips have a weird Prog/trad thing going on.

The pogues are good if you want to feel sad about a lost love, which is a staple of Irish music.

Failing that, kick out some Patrick Kavanagh Poetry for a little legitimate and decent Irish poetry. Forget Yeats and Heaney, they are pretenders :O

:)
