its is all about the context. you use that word in a lot of places to describe people and you will raise some eyebrows. Exactly. It's all about context and sensitivity levels of the people in the immediate surroundings.

When I see posts by morons like Fash, it never ceases to amaze me that people can be this stupid...

Raghead is a slur, don't kid yourself, just as redneck is a slur the way it is used 99% of the time. Use of these labels is often accompanied by disdain and an attitude of superiority towards the target. People use it, like Fash did, to show they think they are better than someone else.

Terrorism is also not a solely Middle Eastern phenomenom: groups like the Red Brigade in Italy, Bader Meinhof Gang (sp?) in Germany, IRA in the UK/Ireland and groups like F.A.R.C. in Columbia have all used civilian bombings, kidnappings, extortion, etc. to further their political goals. It like racism, stupidity and umpteen other flaws, knows no racial or political bounds.

Agreed. Violence in itself it just stupid as far as I'm concerned. I wish all people could live peacefully together, but that is a pipe dream of astronomical proportions.

That was said shortly before someone (The threatener) had his finger cut off in a very similar fashion in a kids bike spokes (The threatenee).
On that, violence is stupid. It is generally only employed by small children, and large nations.
I think that a peaceful solution should be primary in our leader's mind, but it seems like Bush wants the War. Now, I understand we cannot back out now (exactly how Saddam became an issue over Osama, I will never know), but he has lost my vote for next election. Especailly after insulting the U.N. and their policy.

Redneck is a slur. It is not a racial slur. I hate to burst into your little fucking conservative utopia, but "white people who live in the southeastern united states and drive pickup trucks and own trailers and are uneducated and often racist and so forth" is NOT A FUCKING RACE.

When you use the word nigger, you are referring to black people as a whole, with no qualifiers. You are insulting based on race. Thus: racial slur.

When you say raghead, you are referring to members of a specific religion, with no qualifiers. You are insulted based on religion. It's more of a religious slur than anything, but in public discourse, religion and race are commonly and acceptably intertwined with regards to slurs, especially because over most of the world, religion is passed down through breeding, just like ethnicity. Thus: racial slur.

When you say redneck, you are referring to certain white people, based on qualifiers such as location, economic status, educational status, lifestyle preference, personal beliefs, and so forth. Thus: not a racial slur.

Are you honestly too stupid to recognize this?

Any socially distinctive trait can be used as a slur when used with hatred. To say "redneck" is not a slur is actually quite wrong. If you think something is not a slur, here is the test for you : Walk calmly up to a group of the persons in question and say "well look at this group of <insert slur here>". If you get your ass kicked or run for your life, then it is a slur that they found offensive.

I am fully prepared to test this theory myself. Does anyone know where I can find a group of young white female nudist nymphomaniacs?
