Brilliant movie quiz

Post by Hesten »

Hiya guys. Got this link from the hubs yesterday, and after two days i finally finished it.
This is THE coolest movie quiz i have seen, you just need to find the 50 movies out from references on a drawing. Some of them are easy, some of them are devilishly hard (stupid karate girls), but i guarantee youll have fun with it. I killed a lot of productivity at work today by emailing it to a few people :)
Try to see how many you can get. I dont mind giving hints, but remember spoiler tags :)

Try to do it without any help from google/imdb and the like. I got all 50 with only a few hints from people who had done it.

Apparently I'm pretty f'ing awful because I can come up with about 8, that's it. The movies seem to be from all over, I found a few
[Show]
kid movies
and then got thrown off by others
[Show]
dark knight
when I was looking for a pattern of what to look for.

Meh, I looked at the spoiler and realized some that I should have gotten, others I'm pretty sure I don't consider them best movies of all time, so I didn't even think about them.

A few of them, I fucking typed like 1 word slightly off, like "a" instead of "the".
[Show]
The instructions said "great films" not "best movies of all time" like I'd got stuck in my head. Regardless, I think it's a) a really neat idea and fun but b) pretty misleading when it says "great films" because I hardly consider half of them, great and categorically half of them aren't similar at all to me.
Spoiler'd that because it might give away or make it easier for some people, I know I certainly would have done better going into it thinking that way.

Up to 35/50 now. Really stuck on the rest of them. Funny thing is I can only count 12 more things on the screen so I don't even know where 3 of them are.

I got to 41/50 and was about to say forget it, but my boss cheated on the last ten and told me the answers. I can say with confidence there is no way in hell I would have got half (or more) of those without major hints.

I know the two flags - got one of the movies but missing the one by the tombstone. The windmill is my bitch. Took me forever to figure it out though. 31/50 and struggling. The music one was better imo - or maybe I was better at it so I enjoyed it more. ><

Still wrastlin' with the windmill. Just got a bunch of them, gonna start doing some searches or something I think! The flag by the tombstone requires knowing either what flag it is, or possibly what the initials mean, but I don't totally expect americans to be familiar with that one!

The windmill can kiss my fucking ass. That is probably the 1 of them I can say for 150% sure I would have never guessed, and unfortunately I saw the movie in the theater.

I resent the your other comment! I got the initials part of it but didn't think to look up the flag.

I am guessing almost no one gets the guy with kids ones. The cheerleader chicks I think are pretty stupid and I likely wouldn't have got without hints either. I don't think I would have got the lady with the books, or the guys holding the painting without hints either..

Most of the rest came relatively easy.

Guys with the painting was one of the first ones I got. Stuck at 40. Missing, lets see. The butterfly and bell, the dudes with the kids, the 3 little kids (apparently they'e separate), the 3 c's (thought I was clever and got this one but alas I was wrong :( ), the lady at the piano, the red plane, the karate chicks, the lady grinding the books, and the chart on the side of the pool. A few of the ones I JUST got I feel stupid for not guessing faster, especially the roman dude.

Some hints:
[Show]
The butterfly and the bell - you're almost there. What's the bell doing? (foreign film)

The 3 C's - don't think of it so much as 3 c's but what they can stand for. The less you think of that one, the easier it'll be.

The red plane - zoom in on the plane. Once you do, it's obvious as hell.

The lady at the piano is extremely literal.

The dudes with the kids is also very literal. What's another word for kids? That question also applies for the little kids.

The lady grinding books is irrelevant, think of the input and the output.
And for the cheerleaders, dont focus on their clothes, focus on what they ARE. And what they are doing.

I looked at the plane before and for some reason dismissed the item of interest. DUR. As for the piano one, I thought I'd tried the right answer already but guess I hadn't. Got the kids ones, that different way of naming them made it easy (though haven't heard of one of the movies). I have never heard of that butterfly movie either. Still gnawing on the 3 c's. I thought my clever guess was Three Amigos, but alas!
