I'm a bit unclear on the region locking/format stuff when it comes to the 360 or just consoles in general I suppose. If there is a game that is PAL but is region free, does that mean it can it be played on a North American 360?
Using this site as a reference, and the second PAL entry on the list, Army of Two as an example, would that mean it's not compatible with a US console but one like Amped 3 (the PAL one) would be because both regions are marked as free? Guess I'm not understanding the basics as to how it works. If I had to take a stab at it I'd say it has to be region free for whatever region console you have and then it works regardless if it's PAL or NTSC. Meaning everything with a YES in the NTSC/U column would work on a US console regardless of it being PAL, NTSC, or NTSC-J. Is that about right?
Having said that... Region locking is dumb. I don't really see the point of it honestly.

Re: Console Regions
I think you are right, but I'm not sure. Like you said though region locking is retarded and I'd really like to hear a logical explanation as to why it still exists.
Re: Console Regions
Yes, I've downloaded many region free PAL 360 games. As long as your monitor can handle them you're OK.Aslanna wrote:I'm a bit unclear on the region locking/format stuff when it comes to the 360 or just consoles in general I suppose. Re: Console Regions
Yes but what region needs to be free since it can any one, or combination, of 3? Whatever matches your console? I guess that's the part I'm not real clear on.. Which is why I gave an example of two possibilities.

It either must be NTSC or it must be region free for it to work on U.S. 360's. Doesnt have to be both.
so Region free can be anything (PAL NTSC NTSC-J, etc) and still work on 360's in the United States.
