Abortion doctor murdered in his church
Abortion doctor murdered in his church
Conservatism at its finest. If they're not fleecing the poor, starting wars, molesting children, or murdering doctors, they're probably not conservative.

Re: Abortion doctor murdered in his church
Sunday is usually a day where I unplug a bit and don't really pay attention to the news. I just read about this a few minutes ago and was coming here to post a link to the story. This is sad, and it makes me profoundly angry. You know I'm as happy as the next guy to pile on conservatards, but in this instance, conservatism isn't the culprit. There are plenty of conservatives out there that abhor this sort of action as much as you or I might. It's nimrods who believe in fairy tales, demons and angels that are to blame. Not all of them, although whether they realize it or not, all religious people provide material support for this lunacy by promoting and encouraging the irrational foolishness. The fundamental extremist Jesus freaks of the world are the problem.
There would be a certain poetic justice to this assclown taking a .308 to the temple. Not that I'd encourage that sort of thing...

Just wow. This group goes "Damnit.. We wanted to see him rot in jail, not gunned down.".The Article wrote:The anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, in a statement on its Web site, said:
"We are shocked at (Sunday) morning's disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down. Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tiller's family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ."

Enquiring minds would like to know what kind of gun was this conservative, christian, legal gun owner was using when he killed a doctor who was at church.

Why does everything in this forum have to fucking degenerate to the same old shit within ten posts?

They don't need to get rid of guns, they need to get rid of crazy, violent fundamentalists.

I guess radical pro-lifers don't get it, that actions like these only serve to undermine their cause.

Re: Abortion doctor murdered in his church
I've only got two things to say about this. The first one is nothing new:
a) I'm pro-choice. I don't like abortion but I think its more of a crime for society to inflict its laws on a woman's body than for her to end a pregnancy, no matter what her reasons.
b) Murdering a doctor who performs abortions is still murder. We are a society of law (be it the US as in this case or Canadian). Where was this man's due process? When was his trial? Who gave his killer the authority to execute his "sentence"? If people want to change the law, they are welcome to attempt to do so through legitimate means but vigilantism is criminal too, regardless of what it is in response to.

Pretty much what Wulfran said.
As for the murder, probably the actions of a lone mentally deranged zealot, like most forms of terrorism. But we can't call it terrorism if Christians do it! Still, the word terrorism has effectively been rendered meaningless at this point.
I hate seeing zealots win out by violence. It's disgusting. I hope the guy rots in jail for a long time, or is late term abortioned himself, I doubt any of us would miss him.
Pro life indeed.
As usual, Bill has a fairly funny way of looking at these fundamentalist assholes:

By the definition of 'domestic terrorism' in the Patriot Act, Operation Resuce is a terrorist group. But we can't call it terrorism if Christians do it! Still, the word terrorism has effectively been rendered meaningless at this point.

The point remains that there is an obvious disconnect both in western public conscience and the media when it comes to christian terrorism and islamic terrorism.

I'll agree with that.Nick wrote:The point remains that there is an obvious disconnect both in western public conscience and the media when it comes to christian terrorism and islamic terrorism.
My sister became a lesbian somewhat recently, and my extremely Lutheran mother wasn't too pleased. For whatever reason during one of the arguments between the two that followed, my sister brought up to my mom that I'm an atheist (to make her seem less "bad" by comparison). These two events being sprung upon my narrow minded mother has caused complete chaos within my family. I try to stay away from home as much as possible because of the destructive "conversations" that occur when I'm around. Christianity is the sole reason that my typically prosperous family is falling apart. In my world, it's highest on the terrorism scale.

Yeah. Broke up with her then-boyfriend recently and now has a girlfriend. I don't question it. Personally I figure it's an art college induced phase but I'm not going to push her one way or the other.
