Guitar Hero: Metallica

Post by Funkmasterr »

This is not your little sisters Guitar Hero game. It's not Rock Band either.

Think it would be cool if there was a game where the whole game was as hard as the last two sets of Guitar Hero 3? Look no further!

This game is fucking hard, figured I'd give fair warning to anyone that is debating getting it.

It's got a great set list, the polish has improved since Guitar Hero: World Tour and the achievement list is absurdly difficult.

If that doesn't sound good I wouldn't get it.

Is it just Metallica? Because if that is all it is, it does not seem worth it to anyone other than a big fan.

I mean, their shit from the 80s was good, with some truly great songs, but they went downhill from the 90s on, imo.

I wish that Neversoft has some consistancy in the way they did the difficulty.

GH3 was hard, GH:Aerosmith was somewhat easier(aka not so fristrating that is killed the fun), haven't played World Tour and now Metallica is now GH3's hardest all the way through?

How much of a % the total number of GH players like the game cause of the difficulty anyways? Frankly I love the game cause I get to rock out and it feels good. Failing is extremely counterproductive to that.

Thanks Funk.

Not too bad. Still not sure if I will buy it--especially if it is too difficult for the casual player. I am pretty good on Medium! :D My girlfriend is way better, but I would probably get bored if I was flailing(failing) at it all the time.

I only play on medium, so it's always simply fun to me. Even on medium, some of those songs are going to be hard enough.

World Tour is on the easier side of the scale, too.

Guitar Hero: Metallica I think has always been planned as the game for the hardcore people that can mow through the other games on expert.

One thing to note, is that from what I've read you don't have to actually beat all the songs to "beat" the game, so that should get rid of some of the frustration for people anyhow. I'm not sure how much you have to beat, or if there are certain songs you have to beat, but I know Janx has beat the game so he might be able to shed a little light.

Really though, if you play any of the Metallica songs in any of the Guitar games, including Rock Band, they are very hard. So I was expecting this.

For clarity - there aren't really any songs (that I know of so far) that are anything like the difficulty of Through The Fire & The Flames, Jordan, or The Devil Went Down To Georgia.
I think the hardest song in the game is probably "War Ensemble" by Slayer - Video. I am already at peace with the fact that I won't ever beat that song on expert.

Verified the beating the game thing tonight. I beat like 40% of the songs on expert and got the achievement for beating the game on expert.

You have to beat all the songs to get the ending credits, but you unlock all the songs really really fast (like by set 3 or so).

Working through drums on expert now (beat it on Hard/Guitar just to unlock all the songs). Some of these are brutal (Toxicity comes to mind) and Dyers Eve/Battery of course. Other songs I've found surprisingly easy such as One/Creeping Death/Seek and Destroy etc..

All in all WELL worth the money though, the sound quality of the songs is top notch and if you like metal you cant beat it. Time for ANOTHER shower after a drum session ;)

Haha! Let me know if you want to do some band play, I saw that you got some of the achievements already for the band stuff! Do you have people you are playing with or is it just random people online?

Just random people. I'm always up for playing if you see me on (just be aware that I hog the drums!).

I played a coupe of songs on quick play. I did pretty well I think, except when I played "One". I did fine for 90% of the song, but the last 10%, I might as well have set the toy guitar down and gone into the other room and made a sandwich instead.

Yeah it's tough. It's one of the couple of songs I am not currently able to beat on expert. I knew that coming in though, I was never able to beat it on Guitar Hero 3 either, and they made it harder for GH Metallica.

Haha thats the exact reason why thats my favorite song...ever...

I want this game in the worst way.. Metallica still is my favorite band even though everyone rags on them.. The song list looks awesome.. I just gotta get the money to buy it.

sirius has a 24/7 metallica channel now. theres so much shitty music these days on all the other "hard rock" and "metal" channels i find myself listening to it pretty often. however, it could just be that my resentment towards contemporary music means i'm old and unhip
