The man accused of killing 13-year-old Esme Kinney while she was jogging in her Winton Hills neighborhood Sunday has killed before.

In addition, Anthony Kirkland, 40, was expelled last month from a West Side sex offender program where he was serving a parole term on a separate sex crime, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

He failed to register his address as a sex offender after leaving that program, and a warrant for his arrest had been issued because of it.

Kirkland was ordered held on $5,350,000 bond this morning on charges he killed Esme, a student at the Cincinnati School for the Creative and Performing Arts who went for a run Saturday and never came home.

Hamilton County Municipal Judge Fanon Rucker set the bond for Kirkland during a brief arraignment. Kirkland pleaded not guilty.

Prisons records show Kirkland was sentenced in 1987 to spend seven to 25 years in prison on charges of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated arson. He served 16 years and was released on parole Sept. 3, 2003.

This is why you eliminate every singe one of these fuckers from the face of the earth.

Hey, I was just saying that schitzophrenia can be managed!

What this guy did was one of the most horrendous things I have read about outside of killers such as Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez and Jeffrey Dahmer. Trick is, those guys killed many, many people (well, that and were quite infamous).

If this guy was not caught and went on to kill and kill again, well that is a different story. Also of note, serial killers tend to not get caught for quite a while.

This guy did not just skip his meds, then just get into a fight and accidentally kill someone. he had ot have planned it out enough to actually get that knife and make a concious effort to take it with him, where he attacked someone at random.

You WOULD be ensuring their safety by eliminating the immediate threat. Unless you are using full metal jackets (which are not made as a self defense load), you will not be overpenetrating with a handgun to the point that people behind them are going to be hit.

I do disagree with filling them with lead. Lead is an environmental hazard and the buzzards eating him afterwards could be poisoned. I would recommend using the newer frangible ammunition available now....that would fill him full of several metals that would break apart inside the body and not only be lead free, but also will NOT have a chance to injure anyone else.

and remember kids.....chest-chest-pelvis-pelvis-head are the 5 quick steps to ending an assault via handgun

Because discharging a firearm on a bus full of panicking people wouldn't be careless whatsoever...

Ask any law enforcement professional and they will tell you that discharging a firearm at a suspect/criminal/perpetrator in a confined area filled with panicked people is about the stupidest fucking thing anyone could have done.

It is not an internet factor at all. The body will go through several changes during an incident like this. The heart rate will jump, some of your senses will dull while other will sharpen. Generally you will lose some of your fine motor skills and dexterity even if you are trained. If you allow your heart rate to climb above 150 or so, then you very well could lose control of your bladder and bowels. Above 180 or so and you may be frozen in place and shaking too hard to hold onto anything.

These are reasons to train yourself and not expect something to kick in to save you automatically.

Vigilante? I was not aware that I went out hunting criminals down. I guess I should monitor where I am better. I do take time to train myself on certain aspects that could save my life or my family's life someday. I also took training to become certified to teach others. Some of the info I provided above came from that training and is something that is provided so you can understand why and what is happening to your body in a situation.

It's one thing to know how to fire a gun or to know how to defend yourself. It's an entirely different thing when you are surrounded by other civilians, in which one bad decision on your part could lead to anthers death or many deaths.

I am actually an NRA training instructor in several subjects, one of which is Pistol, and certified to train and certify for concealed carry in Ohio. My trainer actually has been trained by a slew of the biggest names in the shooting industry, inlcuding Massad Ayoob. I am most of the way through the NRA's marksmanship program, where I am working on Distinguished Expert currently (which is a bit of a bitch using a .45 instead of a .22). Hoping to find some local areas that offer IDPA, but pretty much figuring I am going to have to set up my own course for that. On the side, I read pretty much everything from Massad Ayoob and Jeff Cooper that I can find and use their drills as best I can at my club.

WINNIPEG -- The man who beheaded a fellow Greyhound bus passenger last summer has been co-operative while in care, but still needs to be locked up.

Psychiatrist Stanley Yaren says Vince Li has been taking his medication and hasn't had a psychotic episode in three months.

Still, Yaren recommends Li be kept under the "highest level of security possible" as he undergoes further treatment.

Li was found not criminally responsible for killing Tim McLean in front of horrified passengers near Portage la Prairie, Man., last July.

Manitoba's Criminal Code review board is to decide whether Li should continue to be institutionalized, given a conditional release or granted an absolute discharge.

The review board is to make a ruling later in the week.

No source, but they've got to be reported before they can be counted... I'd actually see those figures as encouraging since Canadians and Australians feel it's worth reporting rape, v's Japan where you can get jizzed on in public and it would just be impolite to complain.

BTW, Alaska has by far the highest rapes per 100K in the U.S. (on same level as Canada) so I guess cold weather hermit type areas are good spots for rape or for some reason, women just feel the need to report it more often if they are cold.

I would have, and I know lots of others would too. I hope that answers your question. You only discharge your weapon if deadly force is being used on someone. A fist fight? No. Someone cutting someones head off, yes.

That's more of a rule they should not discharge their weapon unless deadly force is being used or threatened.
It doesn't mean they should discharge their weapon in EVERY situation where deadly force is being used.

Any police office who would deem it appropriate to discharge a weapon on a crowded, dark bus filled with panicked people should be sacked.
