And I'm trying to get it set up on Xbox Live. It's been years since I owned a console, and I haven't followed any of the information on the XBox. My question is, when I'm plugging in my ethernet cord, can I just plug it into my router and it will detect the connection? Or do I have to go through a set up feature? I use Charter high-speed, but the router they gave me only has one ethernet connection and one USB plug in. It's not a problem to disconnect the comp so I can plug in the Xbox; I don't mind unplugging one or the other. My only question is, is it as simple as that? Can I just plug in the Xbox and have it detect the connection?
On a side note, are there routers I can buy in the store to allow both to be connected simultaneously? Or do I need to get a router through Charter? I'm pure newb when it comes to these questions, so please, spare the heavy mocking! Thanks guys, really appreciate it. Also, I'd love to look up anyone who is on Live, I just bought Halo 3, Lord of the Rings Conquest, and Oblivion.
Just bought a 360...

if you change the device that is hooked into the cable modem, you just need to unplug/plug the modem back in.. but, get a less than $30 router at any store (wireless or not, both will have multiple ethernet ports) and they'll both work together without switching anything.

Microsoft has some good documentation on the subject.
