This Swedish film is one of the best movies I've seen this year and may have to take a place in my top 20 favorite films ever made.

It's a beautifully crafted mix of horror and drama.

Just watch it, cause it's hard to say much about it without spoiling part of it's greatness...

I suppose a couple spoiler pictures of the two twelve-year-old main characters can't hurt too much though.

I havent seen it yet, but it was shown at the danish night film festival last year, and unfortunately work came in way of seeing this at midnight-2 AM

. But its on my to get list, and have only heard good things about it.

I'll happliy reccommend this also, but with a caveat: Don't expect a super-scary horror film. It's more of a social drama with slight supernatural-horror tendencies. I suck at horror movies, I tend to spend half my time with my eyes covered, but this one wasn't scary in the least. Social commentary, yes. Creepy, oh yes. Disturbing, very. Scary, no. Good? Oh yes.

By "horror" I assume you mean what I call "slasher" (the genre where the entire plot seems to be making up new ways to show people getting maimed/killed, I dislike this genre). Good horror (as this looks to be) doesn't have to be graphic. My favorite movie is still Angel Heart.

I'll be looking for this one. Thanks for the recommendation!

Am I the only one that would cover my ears before my eyes in this type of film? The sound usually has a greater effect on me than the visuals.

Yeah, its still there. Strange, i think the time i saw it was showing was during the Nat Film Festival in the spring, but guess they decided to show it again.

Teeny tiny arthouse theater, really cool though. Runs on a shoestring budget (old airplane seats, complete with defunct ashtrays in the armrests etc.) I really like it though - good percolator coffee for ~ $2, organic fruit juice for $3 - they're running that place for their enjoyment and not for monies. The name is from an old silent movie with the danish equivalent of Laurel and Hardy (Fy og Bi).
