I don't really want to get into the math right now, but couldn't you be 1/6th black if, say, one grandparent was 50% and another was 75%, making your parent 3/8. Get another combination like that from your other parent, and voila!

That's old school, now it's "part of the aboriginal community" which means you can be 0% aboriginal but accepted by the community; which actually makes less people eligible.

I think you find all the denominators have to be a power of 2, hence you can't have 1/6. Feel free to prove me wrong though, I also can't be stuff doing the maths.
