Well lets see...

How's the One Year chart looking for the DJIA?

Image

The five year chart?

Image

Ten Years?

Image

Easy to see it possibly heading to 8K before things get better.

Next ten year pattern might look more like 1928-1938.

I've lost $25,000 in the past two weeks (and I'm only in Mutual Funds, and not real aggressive ones at that).

I'm sure there are many others here that have been much worse off, but to lose 30% of my portfolio so fast - scary shit.

pre market indicates DJIA down another -179, 8424

http://www.cnbc.com/id/17689937/

That could change but it's not looking good for Friday.

World Markets are all down big:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/15921552/

edit:

in five minutes that pre market DJIA dropped 20 more points: -197.19 8404.0

edit: -225

We could see -1000 drop today. Hope for the Winnow curse and that I'm wrong. Bush is going to speak ~10 EST which doesn't help things.

Edit 3:

-361.19 8240.0 pre market with 20 mins to go.

World markets are down 9-11% today if that's any indication. Japan's biggest one day loss since the 1987 crash.

DJIA dipped under 8K right at the opening -700 and now it's flirting with positive gains.

It's nice but I hope it settles down with some smaller gains. I'd be nice if it would stabilize close to the 10K mark. Liked seeing it finish strong into the close. A couple days of crazy gains will result in a profit taking day at some point. Stabilize!

Fuck greedy shareholders, greedy\unscrupulous CEOs, boards of directors and their lobby groups
Fixed. These jerkwads all thought they'd be able to keep passing the buck to the next rube before the floor fell out.

I'm not defending Bush & Co. any way, I think they're one of the most damaging and probably criminal administrations we've had. But expecting him to have staved off this debacle is totally unrealistic given the way our government actually operates. I do blame overly idealistic Republicans for initially setting up the scenario that allowed this to happen, with collusion from the Democrats who don't seem to have had any issue until things went down the toilet. They've been told this was coming for years and the messengers have been consistently shot at all levels.

And lets not forget the role WorldCom and all the other asshole large companies played in the spiral downward that started in 1991. Bush has done plenty to fuck things up during his administration, but the economy in general he has done a good job on with the cards he got dealt. The sad thing is all of the shit was already in place to fail when he arrived and he will get the brunt of the shit that he had no part in creating.

Was there no way for him and his cabinet to prevent this economic crisis from happening within these past eight years? The United States of America is a major corporation and George W. Bush is the fucking CEO. He is responsible for this shit, and I base this on absolutely nothing.

What to you is far right in America today is the moderate right wing because America as a country has been moving to the right for a decade. The other day I watched Pat Buchanan complain that in order to maintain his lead, Obama is moving towards the center, but Keith Olbermann corrected him by stating that the center is moving towards Obama.

He made more of a contribution with his post than you did attacking him. He has as much of a right to think what he wants as you do. And by saying what he did, he continued this topic and got other people to respond to him. If you dont agree with what he said, then dont fucking agree with it. And Nick other than Xyun you're about as big of a left wing lunatic i've fucking seen on this board. And thats fine. Because, like Kilmol, you have the right to your own views a beliefs and I'm not going to sit here and call you an idiot because i dont agree with them. Xyun this wasn't an attack at you or what you believe either.

Sorry that this, like Nick's post didn't offer any insight to the topic, but I'm just fucking tired of Nick making some snide ass remark everytime someone says something he doesnt agree with.

I'll make a legitimate contribution to this thread when i have a little more time today.
