I really don't understand how Funk thinks this line of "well everyone agrees with me" is worth continuing with? Look where a "majority" decision has got us in the last 8 years.

Also, from the opposite angle, "most people" seem to be abandoning your particular candidate Funk.

Care to marry these two conflicting and frankly dumb avenues of debate you seem intent on wasting everyones time with?

Dude, first off, quit talking like you are speaking for the board (you know, like you speak for Europe, constantly). No one here likes you, just like they don't like me.

Secondly, we don't agree on any of the issues over the last 8 years so I'm not gonna rehash any of them for the millionth time.

Third, how do "most people seem to be abandoning my particular candidate"? Polls (again, this doesn't mean it's how it will turn out) have gone back and forth from showing them both at a lead at one point or another. Last night changed the almighty numbers very little.

You are making no valid points. But keep spouting off.

EDIT: P.S. - McCain is not "my candidate". I don't even much care for him, I just hate Obama that much that I'll vote for McCain to do my part in keeping him away from the white house.

I like Nick. I may not like the delivery of his message or even the content of it all the time, but he's a very nice guy. He has a great sense of humour and has fantastic taste in musak and film and doesn't spit on people in parking lots. You're not very nice, your sense of humour is non-existent by your own admission, your taste in musik is shite by mine and you *do* spit on people in parking lots. SCORE 1-0 FOR THE LEPRECHAUNS.

Hey I know I'm pretty abrasive when it comes to US politics or foreign policy. Guess what, a lot of people are, because they have a legitimate reason to be. It's mainly all down to having legitimate contempt for people who think its ok to go in and displace millions of people, kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people and justify it with a bit of flag waving and pomp. Which comes across as Anti-American to all the patriots here. But the reality is I hate the fact the UK is as involved just as much. When I think of how much better the world could have been made in the last 8 years it gets pretty tiresome seeing the same old dickheads spout off the same old talking points.

I don't hold it against your average Joe American or Brit, despite it being hard sometimes, if you don't like me having a bit of morality, well tough shit Funk (and whoever else):) (And Yeah, a lot of European people, and americans actually agree with me, sue me!)

Yeah, I like Nick. I may not agree with him all the time, or even care for the way he makes some of his points, but he's OK in my book. I think it's kind of insulting to him for you to compare him in any way to yourself. What you don't realize is that, as infuriating as your sheer stupidity can be at times, you're nothing more than the punchline to a sadly funny joke. No one, except a couple of morons that approach your level of stupidity takes anything you say seriously or has much respect for you.

I particularly like his posts in the music forum. He's got interesting and eclectic tastes in music... plus he turned me on to Rodrigo Y Gabriela who are right fucking awesome.

And yes, I'll be the first to admit i go a bit batshit insane in CE. In terms of delivery. Usually though the arguments I come off with have at least a degree of merit, if not realistically then at least ideologically.

I'm just waiting until Funk starts referring to me as "That one"

Sorry, sir, but I am not always serious. I think it's pretty funny that he admits his views are off the left of the charts, yet still spouts his bullshit like it's relevant and should be accepted by the entire population... He doesn't leave any room for being wrong or misinformed. I think I'm pretty moderate, yet I disclaim most of my views or play devils advocate. Discussing politics here has become a pretty pointless endeavor, except for this rare exchange between Tyek and Xatrei.
left of the established American charts, you mean. And it should be accepted by the entire population as a valid point of view, one which you're welcome to disagree with.

The winds of change....the signal that the Scorpions were finally done. However, they kept going.

Granted, they really were a better band with Ulrich Roth...of course, that ended around 1978 or so. Uli is still probably one of the best guitarists ever. He didn't want to be in a pop band. :)

I don't hate Funk or Nick. I don't agree with a lot of the things they think but why would I hate them over it? I even pointed out in this thread that when Nick discusses non-american issues he makes some great points and we seem to have similiar tastes in movies and music.

That's fine Aab. That's democracy.

But, I do take exception to people that think "in the majority" == "right".

If that's the case, ya'll best get to eating more rice, having one child per couple, and worshipping Buddha, you godless heathens.

It is fun to watch Funk lose his fucking mind though. If he was any more rabid I'd expect there to be actual foam forming when I browse this forum.

Me too, I also take offense to minority groups (not an ethnic issue) who rabidly try to force their ways on the rest of the country. They have every right to do\believe as they please, until it impacts others. I'm talking about groups on both the far right and left...

While we shouldn't discriminate against the fringes, they shouldn't be the ones driving the train either. Luckily for the fringes, as long as the majority can get their fix of cheap crap at Wal-Mart and the TV is working they don't care all that much. Good or bad, Funk is much closer to the mainstream than most of our posters.

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska's governor and violated state ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired from the state police, a state investigator's report concluded Friday.

I'm anxiously awaiting the McCain/Palin camp's explanation for how it's a partisan effort to discredit their ticket when an overwhelmingly republican panel, 8 republicans and 4 democrats, voting 10 to 2 that she violated the ethics rules.

The majority of the citizens of this country make me sick. I fear for the future that my daughter will have to grow up in, hell, I fear for the present that she has to live in. If I could afford it and I had the means, I would leave. There's nothing I can do here to improve things so don't spout off the if you don't like it fix it shit. I'm not proud of my country. I'm not confident that we can get ourselves out of this fucked up mess we're in. There's just too many stupid people in this country. Greed is too rampant and the classes are too far out of balance. Reading in the paper that people at McCain rallies are shouting, "Kill Him!" is the epitome of ignorance here. McCain didn't make these people stupid, but he is responsible for the lies and rhetoric that he's been spreading - non-stop. He knows they're not true. He's been debunked repeatedly. Most people know it's not true. But still he continues. Palin talks about Obama disliking the country enough that he hangs out with terrorists. What the fuck type of results do you expect from spewing that bullshit? How fucking stupid does someone have to be to stick along party lines, just because they're party lines? What ever happened to ethics and respect? How sick do you have to be to send out early voter cards that show a picture of a baby and text that reads, "If Obama were president I wouldn't be here". I mean seriously..

The majority of the citizens in the US disgust me. I hope that this changes in the next 4-8 years, but I don't have much faith.

I have never understood the whole patriotism bullshit line that certain people hold as gospel.

Who here is really "proud" of their country? We can be proud of certain elements of a countries history, through art, culture, socio-economic reasonings, but why is always considered, especially in the USA, absolute treason to hold anything other than the "IM SO PROUD OF MY COUNTRY" line of thought?

Anyone who is blindly proud of a nation driven by corrupt governments, as most western powers are, in the 21st century, is a fucking lemming who needs to wake up.

There is nothing wrong with being proud of what a nation stands for, especially in the USA's case. The USA stands for a lot of awesome things, things that are the driving force for liberal change (this is evident from the very moment of the US' conception as a nation) but the fucking constant idiocy of people who criticise anyone who even for the briefest moment stands outside "blind patriotism" is absolutely nonsensical and fundamentally retarded.

Patriotism is a plague in itself. Judge a nation by the people who come from it, and their actions, not the fucking magically defined landmass. This ploy has been used against that "Rev. Wright" guy, who, ironically, was exercising his freedom of speech. Which is one of the very reasons why Americans should be proud of their country.

What a joke.

It's 12:47 pm and Sarah Palin still sucks!

I read an AP article on the outbursts at rallies. One thing noted was that these shouts of "kill him" and "off with his head" were much more prevalent when Palin was stumping alongside McCain. That to me speaks much of the base she appeals to. The idiot factor. There are a large amount of Americans who STILL feel that he is not only a Muslim, but a terrorist.

My first objection is, who really gives a shit if he's a Muslim? From his stance on issues, it is pretty obvious that religion will not be a large factor in his actions. And even if it was, Islamic (non-extremist) ideology lines pretty good with evangelicals, what with the sexism and anti-fun aspects.

She appeals to the "Joe Six Packs" and "hockey moms" of this country, and it makes me sick. She is appealing to the stupidest people in the country and they just suck it up like a sponge. Every wink is just like another sip of the Kool-Aid. The worst part is, it is working. Even some of my very intelligent relgious friends almost immediately signed on as soon as she joined the ticket. They had intended to vote Barr.

And people criticize Barack Obama for being elite.

Even if you are a Obama hater for the right reasons (policy versus tabloid-esque attacks), this stuff has to stop. The more we let these kind of campaigns win, the worse it's going to get. We can't let our candidates continue to lie to us. It just empowers them to lie to us while in office. Sooner or later all content will be gone from elections and it's just going to be a beauty contest; something akin to electing Homecoming Queen.

This has to stop. It's killing the country.

Palin is better at acting than vice presidenting.

Also, this rap is kind of funny.

Kwon,

I think she was having fun. I don't want my President to be a humorless robot. I don't like her personally, but the opening was pretty funny. I also want to give her husband a lot of props for his dancing, he was really funny in the rap. It won't make me vote for them, but I give them credit for having a little fun, she has a chance to reach one of the pinnacles of her career, why can't she have a little fun with it?
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon
