That's a fucking awful list.
Some of the games.. like DAOC, Risk Your Life, Archlord, etc are the exact fucking opposite of graphically stunning.
Half of the games on there are complete shit and many of her little 1 line blurbs about the games are inaccurate and in some cases completely fucking wrong.

Quit your bitching. The lady provides links to each MMORPG's home page so you can research them yourself. Anyone who doesn't ignore someone's rankings of movies, music or games and instead consider them individually needs to quit the internet. Take the game ranking and hit randomize if it will make you happier. I don't even see them numbered from best to worst so congrats on jumping to conclusions.

I installed Ran Online last night and played it a bit. My kind of game setting. You play a high school kid in Japan fighting against other schools and various corrupt things. (Think "Battle Royale" movie) Initial 600MB download doesn't take too long and installs to about 1.47GB, but the patch takes about 90 minutes and only adds about 130mb of files. Too early to tell if it's worth playing for long. (waiting for the patch to download is more fun than WoW though) Before you make a fool of yourself arguing that it's more mature to play a Night Elf in WoW than a high school kid in Japan...just stop and think about how much of a jackass you're going to sound like before you go through with it.

The UI is a little odd. It's point and click movement or double mouse button movement. Instead of moving with the arrow keys, they manipulate your view (rotate camera, zoom in and out) It has a similar model to Rappelz where you play for free but can buy stuff if you want. Since it's present day, you see ADs as well. You'll see a Pepsi Vendor or a Billboard advertising the new nVidia card. Kinda cool actually.

You can PvE or PvP. As soon as I popped into the world people were trying to duel me but you can reject those and even have a setting to autoreject various stuff like grouping, friends, etc.

The graphics are about EQ1 quality but with better special effects.
I don't recommend anyone download this game but since i did, here are some pics!

(the UI is microscopic in 1920x1200 so may be hard to see/read reduced even further for here)
(link has more pics)

The english translations are as bad as you would expect from a free game.

Nice legs, Winnow!

I'm not sure I'd have titled the list "Top Best 55 Graphically Stunning MMORPG Games." A more appropriate title would be "55 MMORPGs that exist and may or may not be awful."

Thanks Syenye!

While the "best" may be misleading, is she missing some good MMORPGs that aren't on the list? (not counting originals like EQ1 as EQ2 is listed) It's like listing the best 100 basketball players in the NBA. When you get to the 90's, they aren't going to be so hot but they are still the top 100. Uwe Boll would be in a "Best Director" list if that list was infinite.

The list is a nice reference point to go check out other MMORPGs.

Graphically stunning may also mean that you are stunned at how bad they are. So, best 55 (which basically includes everything) is separate from "graphically stunning" which doesn't have to mean stunning in a good way.

Ran online is graphically awful.
Those graphics are circa 1997. I think they are using the Redneck Rampage graphics engine.
To say that game is GRAPHICALLY STUNNING is a a fucking joke.

The list sucks.
If you want info on MMOs, go to a site like MMORPG.COM... don't look at a shitass blog like this written by someone whe's never even played these games.

World of Warcraft, Also known as WoW. Its user community is growing without a stop. This game has a big merchandise around it, that depicts a vast and colorful universe. It is the number one in number of people that play it, only comparable to RuneScape's population.
RuneScape, In the moment that this post was written, there were more than 200,000 people playing online, and each day more and more thousands of people join RuneScape. The endless possibilities of gameplay make it a champion
So the number of people who play WOW is only comparable to Runescape with it's 200k players.
What a retard.

Everquest II, A mmorpg with great illumination effects and all what you can expect in a role playing fantasy game.
Of all the things to write about EQ2... she chose to mention the illuminaiton effects... and not the 3k+ quests... but she mentions the number of quests for RYL...
Risk Your Life, This game has very good environmental effects, ease of use, and a long list of monsters. The game makes special emphasis in the completion of challenges, and has more than 200 quests to complete.
OMG TWO HUNDRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I created a new character and switched to the Brawler class. When I did, I also switched cities which gave me more of a Sailor Moonish outfit.

Oh, that's gotta hurt!

You can aspire to acquire a Racing Girl outfit in the higher levels. Lofty goals in this game!

After killing mobs, sometimes boxes appear which can give you temp bonuses like Luck, Experience Boost, Haste, etc. You can also be unlucky and get some mob that pops out and kills you. I think they only pop out of "Destiny" boxes. Some of the other boxes are always good.

Free games like Rappelz are better than this one IMO but this isn't bad if you're just looking to beat down a few thugs. Not recommended unless you want a change of pace from fantasy settings.

If you can get it through your head that the list is a reference of games that you can then "click" on a link and actually check out the game website yourself we might be getting somewhere.

If you want to shit on more of her stuff, here's her blog:

Here's the MMORPG list of games. It's more comprehensive and alphabetical so people don't throw a fucking tantrum over possible rankings.

If you want to waste your time playing some really shitty MMOs, be my guest.
I like to think that people would rather get their game suggestions from people who actually play them.

MMORPG has a nice list of games. If you're referring to the blog, I agree that it shouldn't be considered a review of the games and it doesn't appear that she was attempting to review them. If you're referring to me, I don't think I misrepresent games.

For Ran Online, I pretty much made it clear it's not a game to try:

Graphics alone don't make a game. Ran Online is pretty weak across the board but I hope you don't judge games based on graphics. If the UI was better, it'd be a fun game despite the graphics. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with Rappelz for about a month. Well worth my entertainment time so these games can be fun. The fancy games don't always fare much better. AoC is a much higher quality game but I only spent 2 weeks with it. For me, it's about the leveling and character customization over guild raiding, etc. AoC kind of stagnated for me post level 40. I could see the skill path and it didn't look like i'd be doing much different for the next 20 levels. That's not a knock on AoC as just about any MMORPG is repetitive but I'm a visual person. I didn't want to stare at my character doing the same thing, in the same armor (maybe a different color), for 20 more levels. City of Heroes/Villains was actually the most entertaining for character skill/customization.

Note: not knocking AoC as a game in general.

I don't get movie suggestions from critics, which are people who watch movies. There's nothing wrong with pointing to a list of mmo's. Stop being an intentional douche, Miir, do you work at mmorpg.com?

Rappelz was freakin' awesome, for about a month. One of the most expensive months for me in MMO history, lol. What a pile of shit, the whole goddamn genre.

There is something wrong when the list is embarrasingly inaccurate... and when the majority of the games on the list are the exact opposite of graphically stunning.

That blog list is a complete and total waste of time for anyone with even a passing interest in MMOs.

Yeah not sure how that works out. It's not like someone will be captain and actually be able to tell others what to do. I know I wouldn't listen to some random Captain. It would be interesting.
