Other details
-You will be able to import "almost all" of your songs from Rock Band to Rock Band 2. I have seen mention of a small fee to get access to this feature but haven't seen anything verified.
-All tracks will be master recordings.
-The Instruments that ship with the game are all wireless, and are supposedly all much better quality than their predecessors. Harmonix also announced that there should be an abundance of high-end third party peripherals out for the game by year end.
-The drums with Rock Band 2 will feature pressure sensitive pads which will produce different notes/sounds when you hit them harder. They also stated that the drums will be expandable so you can add more drum pads, however it doesn't seem they have any immediate plans to make use of this feature.
-The training for the drums will be very in depth, starting you off with some basic beats and working your way up from there. You will also be able to use this to "freestyle" if you want.
-Band leaders no longer tie the bands together, and players can switch what instrument they are playing on the fly. No more having to have a different character for each instrument!
-Character creation is reported to be much more in depth than the first Rock Band.
-Band World Tour ONLINE! That's right bitches, you can now rock with your friends online!
-Go head to head competing against other bands with Battle of the Bands contests that will be generated by Harmonix on a regular basis.
-Stay the undisputed leader board champion with real time alerts updating you when another rocker or band has surpassed your score!
-Play through mini-campaigns focused on a specific instrument, your favorite artist, your preferred genre, or a particular album.
-Create your own set lists in Quickplay mode to keep the music rolling and your band rocking!
Guitar Hero World Tour (360/PS2/3/Wii release date - 10-26-08)
Set list: I was able to find a couple of supposed setlists, but nothing has been made official yet so I won't post anything until it's official.
Achievement list:TBA
Other details:
- Full band instead of just a guitar (Guitar, bass, drums, vocals.)
-More master recordings (I think they said they will all be masters as well, but I'm not 100% sure.)
-Song creator. This thing is going to rock! Basically they said it will have 3 modes:
- The first is a mode for songs that came with the game, you can play them in this free mode with the creator where you don't have a note chart, it just plays the song and you go off memory

- The second you can play a song (all instruments minus the vocals) and it will record the song as you play.
- Third you use something they said compares to Garage Band for the Mac to actually place notes on the chart and design the music that way.
-Also part of this: The songs you make can be uploaded for others to download and play. You can initally upload a few songs (5, I think) and if people rate your songs high enough, you will be allowed to upload more songs. A nice bit of encouragement to make and share quality creations!
-There are many new features/improvements with the instruments:
-The drums will feature 3 pads and two smaller pads(cymbals). The pads will be pressure sensitive as well. Star power on the drums will not need to be activated in a ackward way like Rock Band, you will just simultaneously hit both of the cymbals.
-The guitar is rumored to have a touch sensitive slide.
-It sounds like boss battles will still be in the game but have been made easier (this hasn't been spelled out specifically.)
That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'll add more as I see/remember it.
I am looking forward to both of these games very much. I don't think either one has a huge edge to be honest, because they both bring new innovations to the table that will make these games much more enjoyable for everyone.
