There's no such thing as "Entrapping" someone into purchasing child pornography. He knew it was kiddy porn. He knew it was wrong. He was prepared to pay to view pictures of a sexually abused child.

Sad that it happened, but it happened, he said it himself. His credit card, his hands typing and clicking. Can't blame anyone but Pete. And I would have preferred the standard "someone else was using my computer" excuse to "I was paying to look at sexually abused children for research".

And I don't think it's because he was high profile. The article said 1300 people, I think. A judge, some magistrates, a school headmaster, 50 cops? Pete was not singled out.

Police have arrested 1,300 suspects in the sweep, including a judge, magistrates, dentists, doctors and a deputy school headmaster. Fifty police officers also have been arrested, and eight have been charged with offences.

Pete Townshend is probably the highest profile of them all.

Something really wrong with these 1,300 people.

Very interesting... written almost a year ago, so it at least in part kind of solidifies his reasons. *shrug* I still have a feeling he'll have a hard time convincing people of his philanthropic intentions, though.
