There's no thinking about it. The U.S. is the sole super power currently. As for wars after World War II that the U.S. has been involved in, we won the only important one, the Cold War. The Empire of the Rising Sun would be in Sidney if not for the U.S and the Russians would have steamrolled Europe after WW II if not for the U.S. And yet, you people bitch about U.S. troops stationed around the world and the U.S. going into the Middle East to secure some oil, forgetting that you're not speaking Japanese or Russian today (but do know English for those of you that happen to not be Australian, Canadian or Brit!) thanks to us Yanks.

English is the dominant language on the internet, in printed form and spoken. There's your clue that the United States is on top for the time being.

I'm not happy with the way things have gone politically the past 16 years in the U.S. and we're not going to see a major shake up with McCain taking office next so you'll have to keep dealing with your hatred of America. The United States has the military might but economically, the entire world is linked so it doesn't matter as much as it has in the past. I could give a shit about Euros, Canadians or Aussies hating America though so the feeling is mutual.

The rest of the world could give a fuck about the U.S. while the U.S. could give a shit about what other countries think. Shit fuck. Fuck shit. Back and forth. Japan had us by the balls in the 80's or so it was thought. There's no reason for China to crash the U.S. economy as it would hurt them just as much. We can always write off that debt like all the other countries do with money they owe the United States. China is made up of crumbling buildings and shacks. One earthquake will cost them a heap of money and time to rebuild.

I mentioned in my post that the world is so intertwined economically that the only countries you can really beat on are in the Middle East.

The main point is that the (Western) world is better off with the U.S. being the only military power. Give that power to China and we'd all be riding bicycles and sharing a single TV down at the bottom floor of our mega living complexes. All the sandal wearing liberals on this forum would be shot on site.

LONDON (Reuters) - Belgium's InBev NV (INTB.BR) is close to securing a $50 billion financing package to enable it to launch a takeover bid for Anheuser-Busch Cos Inc (BUD.N), maker of Budweiser beer, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

The paper said InBev, the world's second-biggest brewer, had held talks with banks JP Morgan (JPM.N), Santander (SAN.MC), BNP Paribas (BNPP.PA) and Merrill Lynch (MER.N) about a financing package.

Once it has guarantees from the banks, InBev could write a formal letter to Anheuser-Busch's board, a move expected as early as this week, the paper said, quoting market sources.

No-one at InBev could immediately be reached for comment.

A source familiar with the situation said last week InBev was still considering whether to bid for the U.S. brewer and had not yet begun merger talks.

The Sunday Times, however, reported Anheuser-Busch had already pulled in a top defense team, hiring investment banks Goldman Sachs (GS.N) and Citigroup (C.N) to fend off takeover interest from InBev.

The Busch family has a stake of around 3.5 percent in Anheuser but exerts a strong influence over directors. Both former boss August Busch III and his son, chief executive August Busch IV, have said they will not sell.
