I probably gave you virtual items once upon a time...
Re: New Gaming Rig
I'd probably double the memory to 4GB. Even if running a 32bit OS.

Re: New Gaming Rig
I like the nice blue coloring for each item but you could made those blue by making them actual links to the Newegg product page which would be more beneficial to those wanting to check out the items:
Example:
2 XFX PVT88GYDD4 GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
Item #: N82E16814150267
Standard Return Policy $499.98 ($249.99 ea)
Just saying since you took the time to make them blue and all!

Re: New Gaming Rig
Not enough HD space for all my porn. So one drive is at 10000 and the other is at 7200. The faster one is for your OS and main games and the other is for storage? Just curious.

Yeah, that's the plan with most rigs now. Get a fast drive for the OS and a slower (cheaper) drive for data.Bubba Grizz wrote:Not enough HD space for all my porn. I keep my porn on an external so I can just disconnect it and put it away when company is over. I only have about 250G total, but it's on a 1T drive. That 250G is everything from back when I was on dial-up too! I think the 1T drive should last me another four or five years or so. This is also in preperation for when my children get older too. Fathers of the past used to keep thier Playboys in thier sock drawer, but today's dads keep them either hidden or locked on a hard drive.
Anyway, nice rig Xanu. What games do you plan on running on that, and what will be the very first game you try out at max settings?

Re: New Gaming Rig
Thanks,
I think it is pretty solid, I tried to read up all I could but did rush the order a bit. Hopefully the 4 sticks of 1GB memory can run at least 1066mhz, they are rated at 1200mhz but with 4 sticks they may not be able to pull that off. I am aiming for a 4Ghz overclock on the 3.0Ghz E8400 Penryn Core2Duo (which most people are hitting easy) and keep the memory at a 1:1 ratio.
The only thing that I could added was a 2nd Raptor and run them in Raid-0, other than that it was going with a 790i and DDR3, but that was way too pricey and I saw lots of folks complaining of mega problems with chipsets/ram and other various stuff.
I will be firing up Age of Conan in DirectX10 on Vista 64bit for the first test. I guess I could also check out Call of Duty 4 maxxed out after that (it comes with the video card). Then AquaMark3 to get my score. It runs so much faster than the 3Dmark programs and on my current computer I get around 12,000 video/11,900 CPU, total scrore like 80,000 or so. I am hoping to double that score!

Re: New Gaming Rig
210,000 aquamark3 score. The thing rendered so fast I could barely tell what was on the screen. I was suprised at how much technology has improved.

What do you expect using a 5+ year old benchmark?Xanupox wrote:210,000 aquamark3 score. The thing rendered so fast I could barely tell what was on the screen. I was suprised at how much technology has improved.
It's a decent PC... about on par (or a little slower) than my gaming PC I put together last year.
I get good performance on all games.
I'm not really into running benchmarks or overclocking for 5-10 extra frames per second. As long as it looks good and gameplay is not choppy.
I've got 99 problems and I'm not dealing with any of them - Lay-Z
