Ewww, no. I've just seen some quotes from his books. I don't believe you need to read an entire book to be able to quote something from it. Use the internet and inform yourself if you so choose. You are so fucking dense and ignorant that when I read your utter horseshit last night after a long day's work the only way I knew how to respond to your idiocy was by laughing uncontrollably. On the same page, you accuse Obama of being dishonest and untrustworthy because of the Wright scandal AND claim that you are not bothered by the Wright scandal. Since I refuse to accept you are purposefully committing these types of hypocrisies on a daily basis, the only remaining explanation is that you are just too fucking stupid to grasp the inconsistencies in your own world view.Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:Wow. Every fucking day your nonsensical drivel has been saturated with layered inconsistencies, direct contradictions, circular arguments, hypocrisy, prejudice, and a complete absence of logic, reason, or even the most basic cause and effect lines of thinking. If a child touches a hot stove and gets burned, he understands not to touch the stove again. But for some unknown and mysterious reason, your confused mind compels you to keep returning to the stove and getting burned over and over and over and over again. It is truly baffling and at the same time hysterically entertaining.
Most of the other patrons of this forum who see you behave in this logically deficient and almost retarded manner... well, honestly they're offended. They're offended that an American, a human being who has the ability to turn on a computer and log on to a website is so inept at understanding his own words and realizing what a fool he makes of himself so consistently. Me, on the other hand, I can't blame you any more than I can blame a monkey at the zoo for eating his own vomit. I don't have any expectations of your behavior or thought process to improve. The question these guys fail to ask is how can a man who doesn't even grasp his own basic instincts and thought processes (as exemplified above) be expected to understand the harsh realities of this world? You simply can't, and therefore the only usefulness and utility you have ever or will ever provide to this community is that of the disgusting yet entertaining vomit eating monkey. Some people are offended by the monkey, some people are entertained by him, some people want to study the monkey and understand him, and then there's the rare few that follow the monkey and begin eating their own vomit as well. It's hysterical.

Clinton could win West Virginia, Kentucky and Puerto Rico by 85/15; split Oregon, Montana and South Dakota 50/50; get 60% of the remaining Superdelegates; and she would still lose.

I pretty much hate her guts, but I admire her for her tenacity. She doesn't actually LOSE until the delegates actually vote at the convention. A lot can happen to change Obama's appeal over the next several months. She has almost nothing to lose by staying in the race and may actually be enhancing her position for 2012 should Obama blow it as I suspect he will.Forthe wrote:I don't think the Clinton supporters understand the math yet.Xatrei wrote:Desperation is ugly.Forthe wrote:The supers need to euthanize Eight Belles Clinton. You are just happy because she is tearing the Democratic party apart. To the surprise of no one she is only worried about herself and not her party.
I swear if Obama puts her as his VP he is signing his own death warrant.

He'll lose votes, not gain them if he chooses Hillary. The wise people know Obama wouldn't last a month in office if Hillary was the VP so the huge anti Hillary base of voters would be forced to abstain or vote for McCain.Tyek wrote: I swear if Obama puts her as his VP he is signing his own death warrant.

It's already been publicized that Obama's wife hates Hillary (most recently on Larry King) - there's absolutely NO chance that he'd choose Clinton as a running mate.

Re: Obama WILL be the next president
Hillary Clinton: I think you'll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say. He’s never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002.
The Speech:
Good afternoon. Let me begin by saying that although this has been billed as an anti-war rally, I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances.
The Civil War was one of the bloodiest in history, and yet it was only through the crucible of the sword, the sacrifice of multitudes, that we could begin to perfect this union, and drive the scourge of slavery from our soil. I don’t oppose all wars.
My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton’s army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka. He fought in the name of a larger freedom, part of that arsenal of democracy that triumphed over evil, and he did not fight in vain.I don’t oppose all wars.
After September 11th, after witnessing the carnage and destruction, the dust and the tears, I supported this Administration’s pledge to hunt down and root out those who would slaughter innocents in the name of intolerance, and I would willingly take up arms myself to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
I don’t oppose all wars.
And I know that in this crowd today, there is no shortage of patriots, or of patriotism. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.
What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income – to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.
That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics.
Now let me be clear – I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power. He has repeatedly defied UN resolutions, thwarted UN inspection teams, developed chemical and biological weapons, and coveted nuclear capacity.
He’s a bad guy. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him.
But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.
I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.
I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.
So for those of us who seek a more just and secure world for our children, let us send a clear message to the president today. You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure that the UN inspectors can do their work, and that we vigorously enforce a non-proliferation treaty, and that former enemies and current allies like Russia safeguard and ultimately eliminate their stores of nuclear material, and that nations like Pakistan and India never use the terrible weapons already in their possession, and that the arms merchants in our own country stop feeding the countless wars that rage across the globe.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope, the ready recruits of terrorist cells.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to wean ourselves off Middle East oil, through an energy policy that doesn’t simply serve the interests of Exxon and Mobil.
Those are the battles that we need to fight. Those are the battles that we willingly join. The battles against ignorance and intolerance. Corruption and greed. Poverty and despair.
The consequences of war are dire, the sacrifices immeasurable. We may have occasion in our lifetime to once again rise up in defense of our freedom, and pay the wages of war. But we ought not – we will not – travel down that hellish path blindly. Nor should we allow those who would march off and pay the ultimate sacrifice, who would prove the full measure of devotion with their blood, to make such an awful sacrifice in vain.
Even if this speech is the only thing Obama had put forth, it would be enough for me to vote for him over Clinton or McSame.
This speech will go down in the history books as one of his best. 6 years later, it is the primary reason for his winning the presidency.

Re: Obama WILL be the next president
I am fairly certain it is from the twisted versions and nit-picking of this conversation:
Some have said that she was telling people to go into low-paying public service jobs, which would (somehow) not require student loans/education, instead of going for the more lucrative corporate jobs. Yeah, I agree that it was a very long stretch to get to that one. With all those concerns, one might wonder whether the women should be comforting Mrs. Obama, but she assures them that she’s really O.K. “We don’t complain because we’ve got resources because of our education. We’ve got family structure,” she says. “So I tell people don’t cry for me.”
But there are still problems. As she has many times in the past, Mrs. Obama complains about the lasting burden of student loans dating from her days at Princeton and Harvard Law School. She talks about people who end up taking years and years, until middle age, to pay off their debts. “The salaries don’t keep up with the cost of paying off the debt, so you’re in your 40s, still paying off your debt at a time when you have to save for your kids,” she says.
“Barack and I were in that position,” she continues. “The only reason we’re not in that position is that Barack wrote two best-selling books… It was like Jack and his magic beans. But up until a few years ago, we were struggling to figure out how we would save for our kids.” A former attorney with the white-shoe Chicago firm of Sidley & Austin, Obama explains that she and her husband made the choice to give up lucrative jobs in favor of community service. “We left corporate America, which is a lot of what we’re asking young people to do,” she tells the women. “Don’t go into corporate America. You know, become teachers. Work for the community. Be social workers. Be a nurse. Those are the careers that we need, and we’re encouraging our young people to do that. But if you make that choice, as we did, to move out of the money-making industry into the helping industry, then your salaries respond.” Faced with that reality, she adds, “many of our bright stars are going into corporate law or hedge-fund management.”

That is right out of your ass. You've got to be a world-class fucking retard, which you are, to interpret what she said to mean "...not to go to college because they might have to repay the student loans..."

Re: Obama WILL be the next president
You would vote for someone based on their war in Iraq, who then turns around and has THIS to say about the Middle East????
Lets not do anything against Iraq, but lets take action against the Saudis and Egypt. If given the choice, would you rather be at war with Iraq or taking the course of action outlined in this quoted paragraph?

Re: Obama WILL be the next president
I think the point of that quote is not to say that he's suggesting we go to war with the Saudis and Egypt. He's saying that we're in bed with people that are arguably "bad people", and if we're going to go into a country to physically attack them because they are or are led by "bad people", perhaps we should re-examine who we're in bed with. "Fight to make sure... [they] stop oppressing their own people... so their youth [do not] grow up... the ready recruits of terrorist cells" is completely reasonable in my opinion. Let's not forget that we were attacked by Saudis (for the most part), not Iraqis.Kilmoll the Sexy wrote:You would vote for someone based on their war in Iraq, who then turns around and has THIS to say about the Middle East????

So to be clear, do you support or not support us instituting sanctions or policies against Saudi Arabia and Egypt?

What a fucking retard. Does it say let's go to war with them instead of Iraq? Let me help you with that - no, it does not. Fighting for something doesn't mean blowing shit up. He also doesn't say not to do anything about Iraq, he implies that there's no reason to go to war with them.
Let me help you with this one too - he was right.

Re: Obama WILL be the next president
I'd have to see an actual proposal before I would commit to supporting "sanctions", but I also don't see him saying that. Unless it's further along in that speech and it wasn't quoted. I support the idea that we should fight to make sure our "friends" aren't stabbing us in the back with their policies. That doesn't necessarily mean sanctions, it could be any number of different things.Kilmoll the Sexy wrote:So to be clear, do you support or not support us instituting sanctions or policies against Saudi Arabia and Egypt?
I believe that trying to use diplomacy in Saudi Arabia and Egypt would be infinitely more successful (read: a positive, no matter how minuscule, is better than zero or negative) at making everyone reading this message safer in their day-to-day lives than any military action Iraq ever will, including but not limited to the removal of Saddam Hussein as dictator. Yeah, he was a bad guy, but he didn't have WMDs, he wasn't harboring terrorists (not anymore than Saudi Arabia, if at all), was no worse a guy than a number of other people still in power throughout the world, and was not a threat to anyone in any of the countries that VV's readers come from. I'm still not sure why we went in there.

How exactly do you stop this?Xyun wrote: You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people,
Or this? Do you just say "hay you guys! stop that! It has worked sooooooooooooooo well in the past. ANY involvement by the US just turns into anti-US backlash. What are we going to do....stop buying oil from them? That sure will show em!and suppressing dissent,
This sure sounds like something we should be doing somewhere else....oh yea....HERE! He might have had me if he was up for reducing government across the board here and finding a way to get rid of every corrupt money grubbing piece of shit politician in the government. But I guess I will be saving my Democrat vote for when they get Strickland on the ticket in 2012 (if he does not turn to the general liberal party line.and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope,

Re: Obama WILL be the next president
Sorry, I didn't realize that the whole speech is quoted above, I just re-read it.
I think you're taking that way out of context. I know you're smarter than that, and that you know he isn't suggesting anything of the kind. He's merely listing about a half dozen things that are all better ideas than going into Iraq ever was. You seem to be concerned with smaller gov't, the gov't not "wasting" your money... do you support the war in Iraq?
Doesn't this statement, made 6 years ago, ring extremely true?

Or this?I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings.
Perhaps it's just empty talk, as I'm sure Midnyte will claim. But to be honest, after the last 7+ years, I welcome good, intelligent ideas that are never going to be implemented over bad, stupid ideas that are. No, scratch that, I've always been like that. You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to wean ourselves off Middle East oil, through an energy policy that doesn’t simply serve the interests of Exxon and Mobil.

It is May 2008 and we invaded Iraq like 5 years ago... Are we still talking about whether we should have or not, really?
I don't think it was right either, though I did at the time, but it's too fucking late! It doesn't fucking matter anymore!
Not one of the 3 main candidates is actually going to end things quicker than any other. As soon as they get in that office, that will become clear to them and everyone else. (these last two sentences are opinion)

Re: Obama WILL be the next president
I'd say it's a relevant topic when one of the three candidates seems to have been spot-on with his assessment of where we'd be if we invaded Iraq.Fash wrote:It is May 2008 and we invaded Iraq like 5 years ago... Are we still talking about whether we should have or not, really?
Along with charisma, intelligence and the ability to read off of a teleprompter, foresight (or at least the ability and desire to consider the consequences of one's actions) is one of the qualities I'm looking forward to our next president having.
