Could you list a few examples of qualifications for being president that Obama lacks and the other viable candidates possess? I'm still trying to decide who to vote for this year.
Sure.

Hillary was a lawyer who was found to be involved in many illegal rich-folk land scandals. She was a wife of a sucessful politician. She was a senator for about a year before becoming a full-time candidate/very part-time senator. She never cared about NY, just used it as a stepping stone.

Obama, bullied his way into his first political office. Then snuck in in Illinois when a seat was left open and his only opponent was a last minute fill-in of Alan Keyes. His whole time as Senator was spent campaigning.

McCain served his country in a war and in the Senate for numerous terms. He has actually done things. I think it's really easy to see he is the most qualified. Whether that means he will make the best president or not, I don't know. I don't think so. I think it's the policies and platforms behind the candidate that really matter. They are just the wrapper on the candy that is the presidency. A few politicians have the charisma to trasnscend the puppetry of being the president. Reagan was the last one that did it for me. Maybe because I was young and naive back in the 80's. Should be an interesting election either way it goes.

Oh holy shit. I never realized that McCain was so qualified. He's done things? Like fer real?

The defecation out of your mouth is what unnerves me. Why is it that you feel like you have to trash talk anything/one you don't support and twist around the shit you've heard in passing to support your assertions? Do you only feel justified if you have someone backing you up and are therefore on a mission to convert the "wicked"?

I'm not really all that sensitive, but your demeanor seriously disgusts me. It makes me a little bit sad that people like you actually exist in this world.

Amen Laneela.

McCain is clearly the most qualified because he fought and lost an unjust war for the USA 30 years ago. DUH!
Rev. Wright is racist who is working his hardest to hold his "people" back as much as he possibly can (even if he doesn't realize it), and this other guy is making extreme analogies which also just make him and his followers look bad.

They are both morons, and neither one is worse. I realize that by default you want to think that the liberal guy is always better, but you are wrong, so please shut up.
Rev. Wright is not a racist. Please kindly fuck off with your Rush Limbaugh Strawman idiocy. Also I don't think half of his analogies are half as extreme as people like you say they are (i.e America brings terrorist attacks upon itself - that isn't an extreme opinion, its a fucking fact, moron.)

Also, please go and learn what the fucking word "liberal" actually means so I can actually start some discourse that isn't having to dumb itself down to the level of a fucking imbecile to even converse.

But hey, I'm wrong, because MIDNYTE the racist, small minded, Americentric fishbowl thinking fuckwit says I am. DUHHHH.

Grow a brain you tedious little yank.

Also, CONGRATULATIONS ON REALISING THAT BARACK OBAMA IS A POLITICIAN IM SURE NONE OF US REALISED THAT A MAN RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT OF THE USA WAS A POLITICIAN BEFORE YUK YUK YUK

Also, for someone who has put Bush on such a fucking pedestal compared to ALL OTHER conflicting opinions for the last 6 or so years, you are one sincerely fucking moronic hypocrite by pointing out people's support for Obama. Guess what retard, Support does not = deification!

I feel sorry for your children.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I suggest you do a little research. Try and listen to opinions on both sides of the man/topic and then come to your own opinion. I have not levied any claims that are untrue. You choose not to view the same facts the same way I do. If you do not view his push, starting back in 2004, fainting women in the crowds, speeches full of trigger words like hope with very little substance behind them as a deification of a man with very little experience doing anything, I don't know what else to tell you.

If you don't think what Wright has said is racist, you should think about watching some clips of his "sermon's" again. And aside from the blatant shit, reverse racism in the form of him blaming all the worlds issues on white people is just as bad as me calling a black person a nigger.

The rest of your post I won't respond to, being as it's your usual uninformed hate filled bullshit. Maybe one day you will open your eyes and see how you are guilty of 90% of the shit you blame others for.

Could you please provide me with an example or two of a speech by a presidential candidate that has, in your opinion, an acceptable level of substance? I'd like compare it with some of Obama's speeches and see how they stack up. Perhaps I've been fleeced this whole time.

Not an easy task. Most campaign speeches are filled with cliches and nonsense. I suggest you go to you tube and type in "campaign speech". You'll find much of the same from many politicians on both sides, but you might find a gem here and there. I kind of enjoyed this one from Al Gore. Hillary actually looked like a woman back then.

I was looking more along the lines of current Presidential candidates. If your biggest criticism of a candidate is that their speeches lack substance, and none of the alternative choices have even a single example of something that you're criticizing Obama for lacking, it doesn't make much sense to criticize him for it.

I agree. I am no more criticizing his lack of substance speeches as many have heralded him and deified him based on them.

Holy fuck, people.

Rev. Wright is not Barack Obama. Why do you keep confusing them (or if you're not confused, why the fuck do you keep bringing him up)?

Rev Wright can say whatever the hell he wants and it shouldn't reflect on Obama. I don't think any pastor of any church I ever attended should be confused with speaking for ME.

The last President I liked was Reagan.

I understand you feeling on this, however, he wasn't just his pastor he saw once every Sunday or two. He was a close family friend and spiritual mentor. Very integral in his life. Barack himself defines him as such in his books. His relationship with Rev. Wright doesn't bother me. But, I can understand how some voters might be bothered by it.

I disagree. As far as I (and many other people) are concerned he is guilty by association. If you don't agree with something a pastor/whatever says, you shouldn't attend the church (and certainly not for 20 years.) If you choose to remain there you have to accept/realize that people will assume you agree with what he is saying.

That's kind of the whole point of church, you know, faith.

Then again, it doesn't surprise me to hear you saying this, since half the people that go to church now just do it just because.. because they always have, because their spouse wants them to, etc.. which is even more pathetic than believing this fairytale nonsense to begin with.

If the people going to the churches go for these stupid reasons and not even because they feel strongly about the foundations of the church, why would they give a shit about political comments their preacher sneaks in. But again doing this makes no logical sense.

I think the bottom line is: perception is reality for most people. If Obama is attending a church where the pastor tends to start throwing around "the white man is hodin us down" comments, people are going to think that he agrees with what the guy is saying.
His advisers should have known this and should have had him make some kind of pre-emptive comment/whatever to combat it before it could be used against him.

I wonder if he was attending a church where they regularly preached about jihad on westerners, would you have an issue with it then? I really see this as no different.

If Obama is out based on Rev Wright, I'm curious why McCain is still viable considering the hate and bile Rev. John Hagee has said?

They are the exact same thing.

Of course, I care fuck all what Hagee preaches, because he's not running for President of the United States. However, this would seem right up Midnyte and Fuck's alley. I guess Hillary is the only one without a crazy pastor, so is she a lock for your vote?

I agree. I stated in another post I don't like McCain but was going to vote for him just so I could help keep Obama out of office. However the more I read about him the less I like him, so I might just write the cookie monster in (seriously) because he sounds better than the other three at this point.

Lol. Your first sentence in this quote is directly contradicted with your second sentence. The fact that he is a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT is one of the most important reasons that he has garnered so many votes. You are seriously out of touch with modern American politics if you think white people are voting for Obama because he's black. lmfao.

Believe it or not, like it or not, Obama's strong support comes from the fact that he is the most honest politician to come along since Reagan.

More like greatest villainous asshole of our generation. I'm glad he's dead. I just wish he'd died of something more awful and painful and embarrassing than Alzheimer's about 35 years sooner. Maybe bleeding to death after being gang-raped by rabid bonobos, or something like that. The same goes for the dolts that insist upon trying to beatify the chode since he left office. Same goes for that miserable cunt Thatcher, too.

Believe it or not, like it or not, Obama's strong support comes from the fact that he is the most honest politician to come along since Reagan.
Honest? ROFL

That's awesome.

The deification of Obama is what un-nerves people. I think his performace over the past month has shown a good chunk of those believers he is just a politician.
Lol. Your first sentence in this quote is directly contradicted with your second sentence. Not a troll at all. I genuinely find your opinion of Obama as being honest, very funny. I'd love to hear why you feel that way, even in spite of watching him flip-flop all over on the Rev. Wright issue. The whole Rev. Wright thing showed how he is no different than any of the rest of them. He could no longer denounce Rev. Wright as he could his own grandmother......a week or so later.....he could no longer denounce Rev. Wright than he could the black race....days later.....he denounces Rev. Wright. Great stuff.

-He spoke out (and predicted the result accurately) against the Iraq war when it was politically dangerous to do so
-He took the auto industry (both corporate and union) to task at the Detroit Auto Show of all places
-He said the same thing to black people that Bill Cosby took flack for a few years ago
-He was honest about the gas tax holiday when it was politically expedient to just agree with the Clinton and McCain

Sadly, "honest" and "politician" are practically mutually exclusive terms. Forthe's points, however, speak to the fact that he's not the devil and/or unqualified neophyte that many (here and elsewhere) would like to make him out to be. No politician is ever going to be the ideal choice, you just have to pick the one that most closely matches your views. Frankly, Obama is too conservative for me (seriously), but he's the best option available to me. Once Edwards (also too conservative for me) withdrew, Obama was an easy choice for me.

It's perfectly reasonable to think that Obama is a politician who will sometimes pander like all politicians do while simultaneously believing that he is more honest and less of a panderer than most politicians. It's especially possible if you simply think he's more honest and less of a panderer than the other two politicians running for President.

There's no inconsistency at all.

Obviously, if you want to deify his honesty, you'll have problems.

Political Career
It has been the rich and varied experiences of Barack Obama's life - growing up in different places with people who had differing ideas - that have animated his political journey. Amid the partisanship and bickering of today's public debate, he still believes in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose - a politics that puts solving the challenges of everyday Americans ahead of partisan calculation and political gain.

In the Illinois State Senate, this meant working with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America's addiction to oil, he's working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars.

Whether it's the poverty exposed by Katrina, the genocide in Darfur, or the role of faith in our politics, Barack Obama continues to speak out on the issues that will define America in the 21st century. But above all his accomplishments and experiences, he is most proud and grateful for his family. His wife, Michelle, and his two daughters, Malia, 9, and Sasha, 6, live on Chicago's South Side where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ.

I don't think anyone is going to change Midnyte's mind on this election, nor is anyone changing anyone else's.

Who you support today, is who you will be supporting in November when it comes time to vote.

I don't even need to argue with Mid anymore, he singlehandedly manages to completely discredit his own arguments nowadays.

Anyway Midnyte's a dick so who gives a shit what he thinks.

After tonight's results, with Clinton scraping Indiana (which she was expected to win anyway), the question really must be, when does she intend to drop out? Obama has a serious problem in trying not to alienate Clinton voters, who could cost him the election (but frankly, I don't expect him to win, there are too many fucking morons in America to actually allow an intelligent man into the White House - especially when you see even the more reasonable ones lauding Reagan (haha wtf)).

The point is, she really should jack it in, she's merely acting as a divisive character now. Ultimately though, the democratic process should run its course, but if Clinton gave a fuck about her party, or the American people, or the future of the USA, she would step down now.

I am not surprised Hillary has not pulled out. She and Bill have always been about themselves and never this country.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. ROFL. I was going through elementary and Jr high during the reagan years. I had it pounded into my head by every teacher how evil he was. So when I graduated in 1990 I was a democrat. Voted for Clinton in '92 because I had no clue about politics. But man could he play the sax. Then I grew up, read a book or two, and realized reagan was right. the end.

Reagan rocked! I'm glad I was able to see him speak in person during one of his rally stops for Bush in '88.

I really wanted to repeal the 22nd amendment that year to give Reagan another term. Glad that didn't happen considering he lost his mind rapidly after leaving office.
