Re: new monitor - good deal?!
Decent response time but pretty low contrast ratio.
No DVI.
No height adjustment or rotation.
$550 is a pretty fucking awesome price.

I've got 99 problems and I'm not dealing with any of them - Lay-Z

Re: new monitor - good deal?!
monitor arrived yesterday
even coming from a 24inch, its still refreshingly large. i'm extremely pleased with it.

comparing it to my old 24 inch widescreen Acer LCD here for a quarter assed review
-zero pixel flaws
-image is just as good as it is on my acer
-physically very light and runs extremely cool. very little heat coming off the top of it even after hours of gaming
-HDMI input.. with a free cable.. Great for me because I dont play the 360 much, so I cant justify getting a supernice TV.
cannot wait to plug the 360 into this sucker for some 1080
-the handful of "too bright" complaints i found on newegg are unfounded. It had the same nuclear meltdown brightness that my acer had when I first got it, and there were just as many similar complaints for the acer. After about 30 seconds in the interface I had the color levels and intensity back down to where my acer was. no problem. i played CoD4 for 3 hours, where I absolutely would have unearthed any contrast gripes due to the inferior ratio, but I really didnt have any problems at all.
bad stuff:
-included stand can only swivel up/down.. but limited adjustments on vanilla monitor stands is pretty normal AFAIK and I wouldn't count it negatively. my ACER stand was completely 100% static, so the fact that I can even swivel vertically is an improvement.
-no DVI input was not a big deal for me, but only because I have plenty of adapters laying around.
they should really include one
-speakers are a piece of shit and you can just forget about them. generally I will avoid integrated speakers like the plague, but since they didnt seem to affect the face of the panel like they usually do, i didnt even worry about it.
as it turns out, the reason the speakers are not invasive on the front panel is because they put them on the BACK of the thing, so you have to turn the volume up super high to hear normally which results in pissed off girlfriends in the living room.
but, as i said.. they dont affect the price.. and they dont waste any space on the panel itself.. so you can just forget about them.

Re: new monitor - good deal?!
another update-
360 looks great on it. I now have both the computer and the 360 plugged into the same monitor
