In an Absolut World

Post by Fash »

Who are these onion skinned people who can't take a joke?

Absolut, the Vodka... I'm sure you've seen the commercials, 'Absolut <whatever>,' which are usually clever.

A new print ad in South America brings up the old border , before the 1848 Mexican-American War.

People are actually going to stop drinking Absolut over that?...

I bet most Mexicans wish the U.S. would have taken over their entire country.

Qua? I caught this glaring mistake immediately and found it weird that no one else pointed it out. Do most Americans think Mexico is a South American country? (sincere question, not a condescending one)

For those not in the know, there are two areas you can correctly consider Mexico to be in. You can consider it Central America if you consider the world to be divided into six continents and America is one (with North, Central and South being regions) or you can consider it North America if you consider the world to be made up of seven continents with North and South America being divided. Either way, the southern Panamanian border separates South America from the areas north of it.

There's some scary stuff written in the comments on that LA Times article.

I caught it, and I was going to post wondering who the hell would be drinking Absolut in Mexico...then I realized he said South America, and I knew that Mexico wasn't IN South America.

Mexico is welcome to have that territory back once they pay usA for the infrastructure improvements. What do you think the Hoover Dam should be worth in today's economy? And all those miles of Interstate highway through that God forsaken land? I'd settle for $1,000,000,003,000,000,000.00 payable in advance. You know Mexico has it... essentially they could just give usA back what they've stolen via the illegals.

Is that the same Hoover Dam that helps reduce the Colorado River to a trickle before it gets to Mexico? : )

Mexicans would have been much better off if we had stayed in Mexico City after the U.S. captured it in 1847. Plus we'd have all of their untapped oil and our southern border would be really skinny down in Central America, easy to secure.

The U.S. would have some issues with our cheap labor though. The Swiss have the Italians. German's have the Turks. Swedes have the Danes. Who's going to harvest the lettuce crops, clean hotel rooms and mow lawns!?
