Picked this up yesterday, and I like it. There are a ton of weapons and gadgets I've never seen in a shooter before that add a fun factor to the game, some example are: Remote controlled car that is a bomb, remote controlled helicopter that shoots little mini-rockets, many different grenade options like grenade that explode on impact, timed, or that you can bounce of a wall and detonate with a trigger.
There is also a fair amount of vehicle stuff worked into the game, and that has been fun too.
I was really excited for the MP, cause it's got the biggest battles so far for the 360 (16 vs 16), but when I tried to join one last night there weren't that many matches, and every one of them I tried to join said it was no longer available, but when I searched again it was still there.. Whatever the problem is I hope they work it out soon, that was really frustrating.

Re: Frontlines: Fuel of War
Played it a bit at a friends place on the weekend.
The cinematics are fucking terrible.
The single player was kinda fun for the first few missions. I liked the gadget weapons.
After the second mission everything became just too contrived.
You conveniently find weapons that you need to help complete the next objective. Enemy AI is fucking horrible. Even at the highest difficulty level, you could snipe an enemy then sipe the guy that was standing next to him then snipe the guy that was standing a few feet away.
There was a number of times where I would be prone behind a truck (or some other non-destructible cover) and there would be 2-3 enemies on the other side unloading their assault rifles into the truck... not trying to flank me, not walking around the wall/truck/etc to shoot me.
The graphics are a mixed bag. The environments are nice but the character models are pretty bad.... even with maxed settings on PC.
All in all it feels like a piss poor copy of COD.
We never managed to connect to a multiplayer game.
There have been so many good shooters released in the past 6 months... there's no reason to buy this load of crap.
Stick with COD4, UT3, Crysis, TF2. Enemy Territory Quake Wars or even Halo 3.

I have found that the second my shot goes off not only do the people around the person I shot start to scramble, but people a considerable distance away that might have heard the shot echo through the valley start to mobilize. I have also seen enemy AI use tactics I haven't seen much in other games, like if I'm in an alley they will strafe across the alley blazing, hide for a second and do it again.Enemy AI is fucking horrible. And judging this game by the single player is about as valid as judging Call of Doodoo by it's single player. This game shines in the multiplayer, the "frontlines" battles are different than anything I've played, the maps are huge (I'd say 3x the size of any CoD4 map at minimum) the amount of places to hide and the different tactics you can use are so far beyond CoD it's not even funny. And the ability to have far more people in the match (I realize this isn't as big a deal for PC, because you generally can always have higher numbers there).
Overall, I like it more than CoD for focusing more on the actual gameplay then on graphics and some stupid rewards system.

What distance are you sniping them from?I have found that the second my shot goes off not only do the people around the person I shot start to scramble, but people a considerable distance away that might have heard the shot echo through the valley start to mobilize. I could be that they react if you're close to them.
As for strafing and using cover, it's just far too predictable and they never seem to use cover fire or coordinate flanking manouvres.
Maybe I'll give it another go and jump into a few online games.
Can PC players play against XBox players?

I'd have to pay closer attention when sniping and let you know the specifics.
I think PC/Xbox can play together, I'll find out for sure, we should play a match or two if so!

I'll try to borrow his DVD to fuck around with it for a few days.Funkmasterr wrote:I'd have to pay closer attention when sniping and let you know the specifics.

A few hours probably isn't enough time to really get a good feel for the multiplayer.
I doubt my opinion will change about the single player but from the look of it, the campaign is stupidly short anyway.

Yeah I've only gotten halfway through the campaign - I have been trying to go through each mission without dying and died the last time I tried the one im on and got annoyed - haven't played it sincemiir wrote:I'll try to borrow his DVD to fuck around with it for a few days.Funkmasterr wrote:I'd have to pay closer attention when sniping and let you know the specifics.

The multiplayer is definitely worth a try though. Just the fact that you can fly fighter jets, helicopters, and drive multiple ground vehicles puts a pretty big awesome factor into it for me.
