10,000-15,000 is not really a lot of copies, especially for this kind of book that gets used more than your standard book. Beer, soda, food, sacrificial blood stains, etc!Aslanna wrote:Contrary to rumor, the first two printings of Deities & Demigods were never recalled or "banned". They're far more common than most people seem to believe; an estimated 10,000 - 15,000 copies of these prints are still in circulation.
I'm glad I own a copy, no matter what the condition, for nostalgia's sake.
Grats to Bubba for getting $500.00 for his though! Being a comic collector at an early age, I was anal about preserving the condition of books to I'm not sure what happened to the Deities book. I remember being given that book from a friend though so I'll blame them for its condition!

I also don't understand the "less than three" reference in regards to Autoduel.

I get it now... as it required someone to actually spell it out to me, not just show me!
Lol imma dork.
I played the hell outta autoduel on my C64, then about 1992 or so, I called up Steve Jackson games, to see if they had any copies left for an IBM and what did ya know, they did. So I got to play it some more!~

Realize I've been thread derailing here, but I'm going to continue...
I was such a car wars geek (i still own every issue of autoduel quarterly!) At one point I re-wrote the rules for the hero system (champions) and when I showed it to my champions group, they saw stuff like "57mm recoiless rifle, 4d6rka" and wanted none of it.
Like most other people I'm sure, I rarely ever got to actually play that game, but I wasted so much time designing cars, studying rules, and drawing up my designs, my father was a bit worried about me. I wonder if it's stuff like this that caused me to not get laid til i was 18....
