Then share your worse case scenerio for Scientology. Are you worried that they will infiltrate the government and strongly influence law and world affairs? I think other religions have a lock on that one and no one cares. So, seriously, give me an example of how Scientology is effecting you right now and how it could be worse with te addition of a larger and stronger church.

You refer to them as crazy fucks, but I don't see any evidence backing that claim up. Quite the oppossite really. They seem extremely calm and collected. What makes them crazy? Weird beliefs? That puts the conversation back on square one, because it's all crazy.

I absolutely put them in the same group. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Religious persecution. I'm glad someone finally said it.

It's a cult, Fair. A cult where they brainwash the weak ones that find their way to their doors and take all their money. They make them disasociate themselves from any non-believer (family members, normal society, etc.). It is very dangerous.

No one is saying they are on par with radical Islamic terrorists. Not that kind of danger.

They already did this. I assume you haven't actually read the IPCC report? oops, I mean, all of the available info on Scientology? I'm not going to bother linking it because it's already been made available.

Scientology is not affecting me right now... at all. I am however in favor of Anonymous' declaration of war against Scientology, and if there were something I could do to help, I would... if it weren't too involved, and not risky.

I don't know what you're looking at... They brainwash their membership to be focused on "Keeping Scientology Working" and "How to shatter suppression." Watch videos of the 'handlers' who bother anyone who protests them... They are incapable of having a conversation, only attacking you. Sure they are calm and collected while they attempt to 'bull-bait' you into attacking them, so they can have you arrested.

They are preying on the weak, and stealing their money...

Once again for the fifth time... No one has anything against Scientologists... No one even has a problem with the 'Tech' they might like to believe in... The problem lies with the structure of Co$ and how they manipulate people through the system, with intent to get as much money from them as possible. Lisa McPherson died with ~$150 in the bank after giving over $150,000 to Co$... coincidence?

Let's do some simple statistics here. How many formal complaints have been brought against the church from members or former members with claims that Scientology is taking all thier money? Claims by family are null and void since they're upset because that money should be thiers. They claim the money was manipulated from thier loved one, but no one can prove that. People give money away all the time.

So, total all the legal claims and membership complaints and divide that number by 8 million. That % will be a fair measure of how bad this is getting blown out of proportion.

If I had to sum up my overall opinion on this attack on Scientology, it would be this: There are worse injustices and much bigger problems in the world.

Agreed. That doesn't mean people shouldn't do anything about it, though. Take care.

So go out and start or join a movement that will protest/work against those injustices you are against. I would bet that a group exists in your area for whichever cause you choose you get behind. At the moment, this is a cause I am trying to get behind and move forward. Again, you don't have to... as long as you know the information about CoS's past and current crimes against critics and members that's enough.

Information is power against groups like this. The more people that know what's going on the better we will all be (true about most things actually). Again, this isn't about the church's teachings, it's about the church's actions. While in my opinion, those two things are related, that isn't the point of the protest.

In my opinion, the reactive mind doesn't exist (in a bizarre twist the state of "Clear" is realizing that one has "mocked up" the reactive mind - but only AFTER you've given them tons of money/time). I believe that the system in place to remove the reactive mind (Dianetics auditing) is a mechanism for brainwashing/control... but if somebody believes otherwise in a constructive manner it isn't my place to tell them otherwise.

But, please, defend the church's actions some more by pointing out how other organizations are bad too! Deflect criticism by attacking attacking attacking. Of course, defending the indefensible is impossible, so what other way is there?

Deflecting is the very core of the liberal mindset. Well said sir.

Scientologists claim their number at around 8 million. Jehovah's Witnesses claim around 6.7 million members. Furthermore, JH are all located in the States, whereas Scientology is worldwide.

It seems you are stuck on the differences while I am stuck the simularities.

EDIT: Just another point of reference, Mormons claim 12 million members.
Scientologists claim 8 million, but it's nothing like that many.

And I would argue that it's the foundation of the conservative mindset - blame all your problems on the immigrant or the future or whatever is the next new thing. Or maybe on the fact that "you can't change the world so just live in this one! <shrug>

Anyway, this is off topic, I'll stop with this point now... we can take it to a new thread if you so desire.

You mgiht want to, because your attempt to make deflecting relate to conservative thinking was awful.

How huge? You would think that they could be bigger if the publicity was not just through the community of people looking for information on youtube.
