Vista: Is there a way to tell the OS a program is "Trusted"?

Hey brain trust:

Probably a security vulnerability if it exists, but FFS, why do some applications I install ask me every time they're launched if I will allow them to run, while others just run?

How, technically, can I say "HEY VISTA, I TRUST THIS DAMN PROGRAM I INSTALLED, AND AM LAUNCHING IT FROM THE APPLICATION SETUP-INSTALLED SHORTCUTS WITHOUT ANY SHENANIGANS, SO HOW ABOUT YOU JUST FUCKING RUN IT OK?"

I mean, I don't get it. I have pre-Vista software that just runs and post-Vista software that doesn't without asking me every time. Is there some sort of magic to making Vista STFU w/o disabling the entire security service?

P.S. "Install XP" posts not welcome. That's already in my back pocket as plan B with my XP Pro OEM, but I'd like to figure this damn OS out since work will foist it on me as soon as they're allowed.

Use one the OEM Ultima Vista (no serial necessary) installs. Those are trusted.

EQ2Map for one, but several others.

EDIT: To be more clear, I know I can globally disable these alerts, I know how, I have a copy of the memo right here. I'm not looking to install unlicensed copies of the upgraded OS.

What I'm trying to determine is if there is a way to leave security alerts enabled (hey, I don't mind them for new application installations and would rather know when the fuck something's trying to run on my PC without my leave), but to flag a specific application as "OK, don't remind me about this one. I trust this."

Sorry, English is a primary language for me, so I understand this is difficult to understand.

I am actually about to reinstall EQ2Map. I'll watch for popups. I uninstalled it when I uninstalled EQ2 and it's three installs...

Sorry, no popup here, and I know I still have the warnings enabled since I got one on Saturday for another program. It is possible that it still knew that I had chosen to ignore the warning on EQ2Map when it was installed before though...which would be what you are trying to have it do too

Thanks Boogahz for taking the time to let me know that. I'll DAR and see if that takes care of it for EQ2Map.

I know I get it for some other applications as well, maybe I'll muck with it some more since there's no apparent remedy forthcoming.

I did a quick Google Search and I think this is a change that the app maker needs to change in his code for those to dissapear.

Aside from that is seems like turning off UAC would be the only way to disable these.

Code signing is pre-vista, just not too many people have bothered with it.

Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. And the problem is just that I forgot the one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not even really a problem anymore.

So code signing disables the UAC warning for the app? OK, I was familiar with code signing, it was new with XP and caused us all sorts of consternation at the time. Good to see it's still doing so...

Right-click the icon and go into proprties. There is an option to run the program as an administrator. I think that gets rid of the message on a individual basis. I agree that it is annoying as hell. Another annoying thing is when the messages pop trying to do file level actions. Still working on getting those gone.
