In the Name of the King (by Uwe Boll)
With a 70+ million dollar cost, I figured most people would be as happy as me to see this make less than 3 million it's opening weekend. In the wake of the bomb, Boll has promised to only make smaller budget movies.
Goddamn it looked horrible to begin with. I can't believe people let shit like this get made. I mean, 70 million is a very nice budget. Whoever hands that kind of money over to Boll deserves to lose every cent. Chirst people, look at his fucking record!

You know, watching the preview, I knew that this was a Boll production before they even said it. I felt bad for Jason Stratham. I know he is not an A-list actor, but I enjoyed most of his flicks. His rally speech featured in the preview is awful. No emotion, no charisma. If I was a soldier for him I would be thinking, "why am I fighting for this guy?"
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

But....when....I....How does it seem like a good idea to keep giving this guy work?!
It could be that the only purpose for your every existence, is to serve as a warning to others.

This is why: http://www.cinemablend.com/features/Uwe ... g-209.html
I believe they closed the loophole (couldn't find that article), but if your movie was announced before the change occurred, the old laws apply. Which is why you see this on imdb:

That's awesome, I can say that I've never paid to see a Boll film! I've never seen one for free either...I've never watched any thing on his IMDB list. Only problem is, that means I helped him make money by ignoring his works! Damnit, a paradoxical predicament. What happens if his movie makes $1.00 more than the budget, is he on the hook for all the taxes and the loan interest?

From Wikipedia ( a some what interesting read )Kluden wrote:........ What happens if his movie makes $1.00 more than the budget, is he on the hook for all the taxes and the loan interest?
"Boll is able to acquire funding thanks to German tax laws that reward investments in film. The law allows investors in German-owned films to write off 100% of their investment as a tax deduction; it also allows them to invest borrowed money and write off any fees associated with the loan. The investor is then only required to pay taxes on the profits made by the movie; if the movie loses money, the investor gets a tax writeoff."

As of last week (I think), that loophole has been fixed. Boll is officially out of the big budget movie making business.Knarlz wrote:From Wikipedia ( a some what interesting read )Kluden wrote:........ If I see it posted I might give it a download. How bad could it be? Surely it can't be worse than the last Resident Evil movie.

You have obviously never seen an Uwe Boll movie.Aslanna wrote:If I see it posted I might give it a download. How bad could it be? Surely it can't be worse than the last Resident Evil movie.
They have no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
Some movies are fun to watch because they are unintentionally bad.
Uwe Boll movies are intentionally bad.
The last Resident Evil movie wasn't fantastic but it was entertaining zombie action flick. You'll probably find a good number of people who aren't afraid to admit that they really enjoyed it.
You'd be hard pressed to find a single person who would admit to enjoying a Uwe Boll film.

I don't care if 10 billion people enjoyed it. Personally I thought it sucked and was the worst movie I saw last year.miir wrote:The last Resident Evil movie wasn't fantastic but it was entertaining zombie action flick. Re: In the Name of the King (by Uwe Boll)
Comparing Resident Evil to any Uwe Boll film is like comparing fried liver w/onions to a warm bowl of fresh dog feces.
You may not like the taste of liver but to entertain the possibility that you might enjoy the taste of dogshit more is incomprehensible.

Re: In the Name of the King (by Uwe Boll)
See my post above, that appears to be true, but he announce 5-6 new movies, which fall under the old law, and will be just as bad as all his other releases =(Fairweather Pure wrote:As of last week (I think), that loophole has been fixed.
