Best/Worst of '07, New Year Res and Predictions

Post by Winnow »

Could break this up into several posts but this might work.

Post something bad about 2007, something good about 2007, your New Year Resolution and a Prediction for 2008. It can be personal or anything that happened in the world.

Best: My brother did not have cancer after a very stressful week following initial tests.

Worst: Cart banned from VV

Resolution: Eat a healthier diet

Prediction: We get the first substantial evidence of some form of extraterrestrial life

------------------

Not too exciting but those are mine!

Worst - Arthritis and another year of surgeries.

Best - Watching the kids play their sports and music and watching their growth.

Resolution -Do what it takes to get my son's grades up, drop 10-15 pounds after the surgery. I have not gained much, but having surgery at the holidays makes it hard to stay in shape!!

Prediction - Housing market continues decline through the rest of the year and Dem's win the White House.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. I love this thread. It made me realize that I actually had an incredibly decent 2007.

Best: (in chronological order) I graduated, two of my brothers' wives had babies giving me my first niece and nephew and I got married.

Worst: I got stitches for the first time after slicing my knee up (scariest shit ever for someone who's deathly afraid of needles).

Resolution: Move out of my apartment and into a house.

Prediction: Fidel Castro dies.

2007 was kind of a shitty year for me. I'm hard pressed to pick only one "Worst" or to find something that I could call a "Best moment"....

Best: Getting a 1-yr contract (for tech writing) with a great group of people after unfairly losing my previous job (see below).

Worst: Losing my job because the menopausal shrews I worked with found out that I was going to be offered a promotion if this particular vendor company won the contract to pick up all of our positions. The vendor in question didnt win the contract but not before mentioning their plans (idiots) to the head shrew who got the gang of shrews together to oust me in the guise of "cutting costs." (I heard all about their plans from another party) Go insecure aging women threatened by younger women!!! grrr

Resolution: Stick to my gym routine so that come summer I'll not only feel comfortable wearing a bikini, I'll be looking for excuses to prance around in one :)

Predictions: My year contract is up late summer, so I'm hoping that they'll find enough work to keep me on another year. Not really a prediction, just crossing my fingers... Otherwise, new job! Maybe this time I'll be able to get away from HP. I could use a change...

This too was a shitty year for me.

Best: back to my old position at work (less stress)

Worst: my grandmother died

Resolution: to get pregnant

Prediction: George R.R. Martin will finish writing a Dance with Dragons!

Thinking about it some more, some pretty nasty stuff, fatal in a couple instances happened to me, family and very close friends this year.

On the other hand, a lot of good things happened as well. Looking back it was a damn good year in total, can't really tag best or worst. The bad was pretty devastating, the good pretty amazing, and nothing short of miraculous in one case.

Resolution: Don't believe in them

Prediction: The republicans will win in the upcoming election because the democrats aren't bright enough to run a candidate who has a chance of capitalizing on a potential presidential win, on the slim chance they run someone who can win.

Best: Won a silver medal at the world championships for the slalom.

Worst: The guy who came in third felt I'd cheated him out of the silver and so cracked my knees with a tire iron.

Resolution: Stop lying so fucking much.

Prediction: This year I'll win the gold!

Best: Won $200 on a 15-0 beer pong run.

Worst: brother had double brain hemorrhage (screen name Podarok, some of you might remember)

Prediction: Red Wings, Pistons and Tigers win it all.

Since Lalanae posted a pic of her new nephew/niece when talking about best/worst, I figured I'd include mine.

Besides... it is probably VV worthy :)

Best: Despite 2 very troubling hospital visits for family members, they both made it home with a clean bill of health. I have a close-knit group of friends who make my life fun and interesting. I feel secure in my job, turned down 2 offers to leave, and will be getting a significant raise effective in march.

Prediction: Clinton pulls out of the race for president and Obama picks her up as VP. They win in a landslide, taking the country down with them.

You forgot the part where Clinton plots and pulls off an assassination of Obama. (I honestly think she would consider a plan like that to get the power she seems to crave) Anyone who picks her as a running mate is insane!! I would guess he would actually choose Edwards.

Resolutions: Don't fuck up the long-term plan, play basketball and gaelic football as regularly as possible, refuse to be satisfied with the status quo
Prediction: Time keeps on slipping into the future
